2:25 mark is where to start at.

quote:

"I was blown away today. I saw a legitimate NFL starting quarterback today backing up Tom Brady," Mayock said after Monday's scrimmage versus the Redskins. "So as the season progresses and we get closer to draft time and what the Patriots can or can't do with him, I think they drafted Jimmy Garoppolo for a reason, as an insurance policy. But trust me, Ryan Mallett's a starting quarterback in this league, and he popped today."

Man I hope he gets traded soon and gets to start making a name for himself. That Andy Dalton deal must make him sick.

He's getting paid to sit under one of the best QBs and head coaches of our time. I'd say he's doing okay for himself.

He's probably tickled about the Dalton contract - the going rate for a serviceable starting quarterback just jumped. He'll be paid handsomely come next contract.

Honestly, I would rather him stay with New England and hope Brady ages quickly. That New England system is a QB's dream. If he gets traded to a QB graveyard like a Cleveland or Oakland then he may go south real quick

I'm still dreaming that Houston will go after him. He'd excel in Houston. They're a QB away from being a perennial playoff team and Fitz is a joke.

Obviously! I'm just saying that with his talent, had he gone anywhere that didn't have Tom Brady, he'd probably have earned more playing time by now. He's that good.

The Dalton comment is more of my own belief that Mallet was better than him when they were drafted and he's been better than him throughout their careers.

i guess mayock isn't concerned about ryan's horsecrap 'character issues' anymore like he was before the draft.

He actually brings that up. Something about how you haven't heard a peep about him in 3 years with off the field stuff.

What was the deal with Tyler? Did he not have it between the ears?

that figures, he had to bring it up somehow.

i hold a grudge against all of the experts that year- touting blaine and his lovely tresses of hair while just knocking ryan over and over again.

I'm sure there's multiple versions of the story about why he didn't pan out, but what I'm hearing from sympathetic folks is that what he did have between the ears was knocked out too many times.

Grrr that sucks. Hate that for him. He was a warrior for us, but we definitely got him killed more than enough times.

Oh, I totally agree. I just think he needed a few years of mentoring before getting the big time. Talent isn't an issue, though I think Ryan's accuracy is not the greatest, but no one can argue with his strength!

That's one of the biggest reasons I'm so high up on Randy Shannon. Aside from being a great coach, he's a phenomenal mentor.

Tyler Wilson just became Bert's biggest recruiting weapon. Those Klenakis lines stole 10 years from his career and maybe 20 good years off his life.

Come to Arkansas where we have elite OL that will protect your career longterm and short term.

Totally agree. I was just rewatching the Auburn/Arkansas game from his rookie season, and he got lit up from the beginning. Game plan seemed to be give it to Wingo or throw it as fast as you can and duck. I knew we weren't balanced at the time, but I had no idea it was that bad at the time.

I really hope Mallett gets a shot. I would love it to be with the Pats, but I don't see it happening.

I also think Wilson was a system QB that's stock benefited greatly from a QB friendly Petrino system.

He was a really good college QB but not quite NFL material.
