I do think our LBs will be much improved though, as I'm hoping Davis & Mac step up huge this year. Mike Taylor & Morrison.....show me something, please. Hoping either Anzalone or Rolin makes an impact.....both would be awesome. Glancing at the roster, is Neiron Ball still on the team? I could've sworn he graduated last year, but he's listed on Gatorzone.

One guy on defense I don't really hear anyone talking about is Brian Poole. Where do y'all see him fitting in?

I thought Poole was gonna rotate between FS and SS, a lot of nickle packages I guess.

Ball is still on the team I think. He got an additional year from the injury a few years back.

Morrison looks slimmed up. Hope that helps him. Really think Davis will play well this year. Outside of him, looking for others to step up.

Those were good players for Florida, but they didn't make many big plays on the field last year. So I'm not sure how much UF is going to "miss" them. I think of the people on that list, Jaylen Watkins played the most and was the most consistent last year, and he will be missed at safety.
But I think the defense has a chance to make more big plays this year.
UF has a group of very experienced LB's (Taylor, Ball, and Morrison). Taylor and Ball are OK, and I think Morrison is going to have a much better year. What UF also has is flexibility. Since Davis has emerged at MIKE, Taylor and Morrison can move around a bit, and Ball can spend more time on the edge of the line rushing the passer.

Easley is a big loss but we've been without him since his ACL tear. RoPo really was an average player. Purifoy was all hype on D, soft tackler and poor in coverage. He was good a playmaker on special teams though. Watkins was solid but not much of a playmaker. Roberson was solid.

I still have high hopes for Morrison, he's shown potential but has been inconsistent.

I am skeptical on Morrison. Besides the end of his freshman year playing with three senior talented LBs covering his mistakes, he has not done much beside knock Manual the frick out.
Mike Taylor is a solid LB, speed is his biggest issue.

Man you guys are worried about the wrong thing cause LBing will be a strength this year and I mean it. Neiron Ball, Morrison, Taylor, plus all the your players like McMillian are gonna show folks how nasty our defense is.
In 2013 we were wiped out at the position because of injuries and we had a few redshirt and we also had guys lik J. Davis step up because of necessity and start at the end of the season...keep your eye on # 40...he's a horse. Remember that injuries hurt us so bad at LB that we had to insert walk on at end of the year....well...its coming home to roost now...extra time in weight room and film room will make our young LBs ready to play this year and provide plenty of depth.

Oh...one more thing....what I really like about our LBs is that they bring the lumber with them and we will see some helmuts crushed in 2014.

I do believe Jarrad Davis is going to be a great run stopper and force a few fumbles. Dont know about his coverage skills, but his HS film was all about him meeting and annihilating RB's as soon as they hit the line of scrimmage. He will be one of those guys with not a lot of flashy stats (sacks, ints, tfl), but will just straight up have a ton of tackles.

Olemc: have you heard the term "nickel and dime backs?" Who in the world do you think those DBs replace when they come into the game? Say it with me...LBs. Davis is built like a tank and is a true MLB that can stop the run and provide some range...but he will be subbed on passing downs most likey.
Stopping the run game is # 1 priority for a defense....you cant stop the run...then they don't need to throw the ball.
