"Once he got here, everything changed," sophomore wide receiver Demarcus Robinson said of Roper. "Everything got faster. A lot faster."

quote:

The furious tempo at which Roper will operate is intended to exploit match-ups downfield and put receivers in position to make plays.
"Schematically, we'll be drastically different because we're going to be in the shotgun all the time and the tempo will be much different," Muschamp said. "When you play against us, you are going to have to tackle in space. That's how teams create issues for you as a defensive coach. You have got to be able to play in space. You've got to be able to rush four guys consistently well, as opposed to being able to pressure all the time because you create so many one-on-ones outside. When you miss a tackle, it's a big play."

Season cant get here fast enough.

as a Gator fan, I'm a bit apprehensive. In my experience, seems like whenever we rush things it leads to a million silly penalties (ie: offsides)

Regardless, I'm pumped for this new offense

All I know is if we don't put up 40 points on Idaho on opening day, my head will explode.

If we cant put 40 on a team that gave up 59 points last season to the Old Dominion Monarchs, I will be right there with you in the head explosion category.

Same.

I'm excited for this offense. I remember being enamored back in 08 by the speed of Oklahoma's up tempo offense.

Where's our Debbie Downer/Doubting Thomas/Groaning Gator in this thread. It's perfect for him.

The teams seemingly has the pieces to pick this up quickly. Hopefully the transition is smooth and the gator offense because something to fear once again.

Nothing to really complain about in this thread -- aside from the fact that it takes 3 years to figure out that we have speed receivers and not possession receivers.

Other than that, I like what I hear.

Biggest key to a good turn around on offense imo is....

1. Avoid Injuries
2. The 2nd string offensive lineman must develop faster then expected.
3. The first 3 games have got to be blowouts heading into the Bama game to build some confidence
4. Driskel has absolutely got to get that "6th sense" for the blindside pressure.
5. Identify the backup QB and get in as many reps as possible in the first 3 games (another reason the first 3 games have got to be blowouts) in case Driskel goes down.
7. Jake McGee must live up to expectations, so we have some sort of threat at TE.
8. Avoid injuries

I think the biggest key to the turnaround is health and good fundamentals. Both were lacking last year. They do those things and then most everything else should take care of itself.

Thanks, guys. I'm a superstitious person and I feel like I blew my load with it and cost them the '12 & '13 seasons.

Well hold off until the end of the season and then put together that 2014 SEC/NC Championship video.
