Unbiased Daily: A&M's problems on defense was coaching/fundamentals, not talent

I feel A&M has talent on defense, the main problem is coaching and fundamentals instead of the talent base. I am not sure of Mark Snyder is a good enough DC for the job.
Let's take a look at what I mean by poor technique and fundamentals.
Chick Fil A Peach Bowl vs. Duke. Look at this play, and how the defensive lineman stand straight up and get no leverage at all vs. Duke's offensive line. This caused them to get no pressure at all, letting the flea flicker play develop without any trouble: LINK
And on this play, not one but two A&M defenders lose their man in man coverage, allowing for an easy dump off pass for a big gain. Even after losing their man they looked lost out there and threw their hands up, causing them to stall, instead of flipping their hips and running backward: LINK
The very next play Duke fakes a wide receiver screen and all 3 players on that side of the field bite on the wide receiver screen, leaving the receiver running the go route wide open, no excuse for that, 3 players biting on one route: LINK
It seemed like A&M had problems with play action all year, here is an example against LSU, where the entire front 9 bit on play action, leaving a tight end wide open behind everyone. The first rule of man coverage is to not lose your man: LINK
And then a game against the Grinders, just flat out poor tackling form and angles taken on this play, which led to a long TD Run: LINK
Anyway those 5 links I provided show video evidence of poor coaching/fundamentals. I know A&M had a lot of youth on defense but youth can not be chalked up to those mistakes, that is all coaching/fundamentals, concepts you learn at the middle school level. A&M needs a new DC to take the next step

Sumlin has lost control of the defense?
But seriously, I think almost all of A&Ms problems on defense stems from coaching at one point or another, mainly the positional coaches and DC

I don't say this often but you are seriously obsessed with A&M. Like worse than Crow Pie was at his peak of Arksession.

1st in total offense
Dead last in total defense

coaching and development are a huge issue on that side of the ball for a&m, IMO. Sure, you can speak to depth issues and talent, but at some point, the talent there should have improved game by game, and i'm not sure if i saw much of that happen.
Now, an influx of talent will always help, but that's 2 years away from fully taking place.

With no JFF and no defense, A&M is gonna finish 6th in the west.

I'm glad all the attention yesterday caused you to spend another couple hours of your life obsessing over us. Looking forward to tomorrow's post.

Very informative, aggy fans will lambast you for stating facts but you actually brought some real football discussion to this board, and I admire that.

Tackling technique could use an overhaul for sure

I'll admit, that play was pretty sick.

Solid facts. Hope some Aggies will discuss this and not stick their heads in the sand

Truth be told, if he doesn't break down and just runs through, he lights Sammie up so maybe fundamentals be damned

we're so deep into the offseason that it's impossible to have legitimate discussion.
