@DaveJonesUFbeat: Muschamp said a backup QB will probably be determined about the 15th or 16th practice. #Gators

@DaveJonesUFbeat: Muschamp on chemistry: It's a team that likes being around each other and that's easy to notice. . . . think they like each other. #Gators

A friend of mine that was able to watch the practice last night texted me that Brandon Powell was the most impressive RB last night (really surprised to hear that). McGee is the real deal, dude catches everything. DeAndre Goolsby is a great route runner and has really good hands and he plays the game way more physical then his highschool film let on. In general we are now loaded at TE. Fowler was unstoppable. In his opinion J.C. Jackson looks better then Tabor and Dawson at this point. Matt Jones did a good bit of reps as a slot receiver and caught alot of screen passes (he did this more then actually run the ball) and Driskel has really improved the touch on his deep ball. The only negative he had to say was that Treon Harris kind of half-asses his run plays in practice and kicking still looks a little iffy. They didnt do anything uptempo last night, it was all about every body being on the same page and executing.

Humphries said the Gators are stacked with talent at all positions. He said the D-line is ridiculous with the amount of talent.

Yup, I saw a few shanks out there by brooks abbott, but the other guys, velez and hardin, are hitting it solid but they don't go through. Since it's early, I think they have to get their accuracy.
From what I saw, this offense will be good. They do utilize the whole field and use everybody in the pass routes.
KT had to take a break because of a thud hit by Neiron Ball that had him seeing stars lol

Another update from my buddy who saw practice tonight. Said that either the Dline is going to be unstoppable or the Oline is pretty bad. Ivie is our best interior rusher at DT in his opinion (keep in mind he has only seen 2 practices). He said if it was an overall contest between the 2 units tonight, the defense won the war while the offense won some individual battles. The entire defense looked great while D-Rob and Kelvin Taylor stole the show with their individual performances. Debose had a better night then last night. Fulwood dropped a bunch of easy passes. Linebackers were the unsung heroes of the night, they were pretty much the only position group that didnt get yelled at for making any mistakes. Jackson and Tabor were battling for the CB spot while Dawson took a lot of reps at safety. Keanu Neal is the real deal , he was dominant at safety tonight just as much as Fowler was last night. Kicking was slightly better then last night. Noticed they experimented with different holders. Driskels deep pass wasnt as good tonight as is it was last night, but he made great decisions with the ball and prolly completed about 80% of his passes and his receivers had a lot of easy drops. TE's were once again really solid. They did quite a bit of double TE crossing routes in 11 vs 11s, and Matt Jones has damn near lined up at every position except for outside WR, he even did a wildcat tonight.

I'd say that the Oline is bad, but I think that Dline is going to make any Oline look bad.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it would be a lot harder to do that if someone was running at him with the full intention of killing him.

Here is the latest scoop I have dug from 4 Gator websites, 2 friends of mine that have been able to watch all the practices that have been open and my dad who watched the season ticket holder practices on Saturday and Sunday. Sorry for the tl;dr but here goes......

Starting with the offense.

Driskel has been pretty damn awesome in practice. He is making great decisions and all of the interceptions he has thrown have just been outstanding plays by the secondary. His touch on his deep ball has improved tremendously since spring however he has still not quite got the timing down with the receivers on the deep routes. My dad said out of 10 deep throws Driskel makes 5 will be perfect and 5 will be overthrown.

Will Grier and Treon Harris are 2 totally different stories but kind of stuck in the same place. For every good thing Grier does, he follows it up with something bad and vice versa. For instance he will make a great running play on a zone read and will then follow that up bad throwing into double coverage. Treon on the other hand is superb at the running plays (even though some are saying he doesn't give it 100% on the run) but is wildly inaccurate. Some people speculate that if he had better accuracy, Grier would redshirt but everything I am hearing says Treon is not as game ready as Grier.

Skyler, this is were it gets funny. He is not getting as many reps as Grier and Treon. So it is most likely he is 3rd string. The funny thing is that the few times he gets reps with the first string, he moves the offense down the field very efficiently and actually looks pretty good. He just doesnt have the legs to run Ropers offense at full speed ahead.

Matt Jones is going to be a beast in this offense. Roper lines him up every were on the field and he is great at catching the ball out of the backfield. Judging from the practices you will probably see more throws to Jones then Taylor when it comes to the 2 running backs. Mack Brown is actually turning in some solid performances at practice, nothing exciting but is being productive. Adam Lane has not had a good fall camp so far but on the bright side Brandon Powell has come out of nowhere and has impressed. He is pretty dynamic and they now have him practicing punt returns. Kelvin Taylor has been solid with a great play here and there every day.

D-Rob has been the best player every practice (and thats saying something considering how dominant Fowler has been) on the whole team every day in practice. Every day for him has been highlight after highlight reel and he has been phyical with the DB's. Fulwood got off to a rough start in camp but has come on strong the last 3 practices and is really got his route running down. He has dropped some easy passes but he has the route running skills to always get open. Dunbar has been really good at being a possession receiver that lines up on the outside and the coaches are impressed with his YAC type of running. He doesn't do anything flashy, he just puts in good productive days every day. Alvin Bailey has about 2 plays a day that makes the coaches heads turn but otherwise he has been mediocre. Chris Thompson has good hands. CJ Worton has had some really great practices and a great surprise. My friend said they give it to him about 3 to 5 times on jet sweeps just to see what happens, the kid has a knack for making people miss and might make cuts better the D-Rob.

The TE's are overall the most productive group of players on offense in every practice. Jake McGee is Driskels favorite target and definitely his go to man during the 2 minute drills. McGee has a great practice every day. DeAndre Goolsby is a great route runner and catches anything that touches his hands. Westbrook and Burton have also been putting in solid performances.

The offensive line finally had a good practice today and held their own against the D-Line. Up until today though they were getting mauled by D-Line on virtually every passing play. The run blocking has been good though. The interior of the line seems to be better then the exterior at this point.

Now for the defense.

As I stated earlier the Defensive Line has absolutely owned the O-Line. Gerald Willis is getting a ton of reps and he is arse-raping whatever offensive lineman steps in front of him. The kid has been beast. A lot of people have been saying Joey Ivie has looked the best in practice at creating interior pressure, needless to say the kid has been a very pleasant surprise. The kid has a good practice every day and has about 5 to 8 really great plays. He got to Kelvin right at the hand off on a zone read twice in one day! Jordan Sherit has been another good surprise as he makes 2 to 3 plays a practice that are wonderful but at times looks sort of lost out there on the field. Leon Orr finally had a good practice today, things have been pretty rough for him since camp started.

That brings us to linebacker. Morrison seems to be getting a little better each day and looks faster then he did last year. He seems to do less thinking on the field. Morrison and Taylor get the most reps at every practice while McMillian and Davis are getting the backup reps. Neiron ball has had a very up and down camp so far, some great days then some bad days.

The secondary seems to finally be taking shape. If the season were to start tomorrow, it looks as if Brian Poole would start opposite side of VH3. Just based off the number of reps he is getting at that position. Tabor has been getting beat a good bit by the wide outs and hasn't really impressed anyone so far in camp. He tends to always go for the big play and loses sight on the fundamentals. JC Jackson has been by far the most impressive of all the freshmen in the secondary. He gets beat the least and he is very physical. Even when a reciver gets a catch on him, he always brings the wood. Quincy Wilson has been coming on strong lately. He has had 6 forced fumbles in fall camp so far. 3 strips and 3 bigh hits. The kid can just finds his way to the football and creates turnovers and isnt getting beat every other play like Tabor is. Marcus Maye has had a very up and down camp sometimes doesnt give great effort, yet somehow makes 2 or 3 great plays a day. Keanu Neal is straight killing it at safety and has had a great camp. Duke Dawson is getting alot of firts team reps at safety and has had a really good fall camp.

Special Teams

Field goal kicking has been attrocious until today. The kickers made 15 of 16 with a long of 46 by Velez. Punting is a mystery as of now. Townsend has had the better camp and every time it seems as if he has the starting job on lockdown, Christy goes and hits a 65-70 yarder, that makes you go hmm.

Thats the word for now.

Go Gators

I said he'd be a Heisman candidate if we changed our offense -- kid's clearly going to be more comfortable in a spread offense where he has the capacity to run. I just hope the rest of the quarterbacks are transitioning well enough to keep the ship sailing if he goes down again.

I think Grier red shirts this year in a perfect world and Treon does not. Treon may have some packages this year. If so, he may stay. He's not an NFL QB so there's a good chance he stays unless he decides to go the smaller school route.

That's just my opinion though.
