Why is Bama so thin, it's almost scary thin... who did we miss on in recruiting? because beside Trey, Reggie, Reuben, Shaun there really is no other player that is ready to contribute right now.

I think it's been overstated a little (including Kirby). Throw in Ryan Anderson and that's 5 players for 2 ILB spots and some packages we will only have 1 on the field. How are we any thinner than last year?

Ryan Anderson? he will never be a good d1 LB that's like dakota ball playing TE, is that really what a team with the #1 reciting class the pass 4 years is counting on? a converted jack LB with alligator arms ?? we lose 2 seniors and we replace them with a true freshman and a jack LB? something is missing, and only 3 LB's that are college football ready and you say the depth is just fine lol okay.

Kirby and possibly CNS have mentioned being thin at the position. From a numbers standpoint, I think we're ok. I think the difference is this is the first year under CNS where we haven't had that future AA and 1st round draft pick playing in the middle. RF could be that caliber but we didn't get to see much of him last year whereas the other guys were freshmen AAs

Thanks Nostradamus. What did you think of Anderson's ILB play in last year's A-day game?

Losing Mosley hurts, no doubt. Like I said in an earlier post, I wish we had a sure-fire AA and future 1st rounder to replace him. It'll be up to Trey, Ragland, and Foster to try to fill his shoes though. Anderson and SDH are more than capable of filling Tana Patrick's shoes as benchwarmer

Oh my God! We only have 3 really good players to play 2 spots! How will we survive? Beyond that we've got Anderson, SDH and Holcombe to provide depth and learn how to play the position so they can contribute in future years. But I guess you've already decided SDH and Holcombe suck and will never amount to anything

Never forget that Saban is ALWAYS recruiting and Kirby has learned well from him. They more often than not, use the media to convey the message they want to reach the ears of some specific person or group...like maybe a high school sr MLB they are hoping to sign.

It's almost like Coach Saban may be trying to subliminally convey a message to someone...

While I wouldn't consider us thin, we are in need or a strong commitment and Saban and Kirby are just putting words out there that will help get a kid to commit.

Is it that we don't have a enough players at the position for good depth? How many MLBs did the 2011 and 2012 Bama defenses have on the roster?

Some guys got kicked off, failed to qualify, or moved to other positions. Missed a few guys too, and one did flip late for the '14 class.

Despite that, having a functional 2 deep isn't that bad. Adding in Jones, Anderson, and possibly Holcombe behind them isn't a bad 3rd team.

Biggest thing is experience, having stalwarts like Mosley and DePriest kinda blocked a lot of guys from getting a lot of it. They snatched up significant roles early and never relinquished them.

Speaking of, wonder whatever happened to Shannon Brown. Think he went from a Mississippi JUCO to GMC. Lost track of him after that

A teammate said Brown didn't like the way GMC was ran and said he was leaving, then really fell out of touch with him. Rumors were he got kicked off, but the coaching staff never confirmed it. Sounds like he just floated into oblivion, haven't seen anything on him in about 3 years.

A shame...

Our LB's are cross trained anyway. We have about a million linebackers on the roster, depriest/ragland/foster all went down we would still have a talented guy playing in the middle.

Auburn won th SEC last year with Jake Holland at MLB. Let that sink in before the sky starts falling
