for one you don't smell like smoke.

I smoked in high school and college. I'd say I stopped smoking rather than I quit smoking though....... for the reason that it was very easy to stop smoking for me. Because I like to stay physically active and also because I would rather load my lip up with a fat pinch of Kodiak wintergreen than smoke anyway.
Dip is the hardest to quit imo because it doesn't get you winded or send you into a cough-hacking fit if you hike up the side of a mountain. Instead, it's waiting for you there at the top. And it's 5 times more addictive than smoking. At least in my opinion.
WIth smoking there are so many obvious signs that it's deteriorating your health that there's always a reminder. WIth dipping, if people wait for a sign that it's affecting their health, that's probably going to only be a few months before they have to have a piece of their face removed.
Nasty stuff.

What do you think about one dip a day vs one pack of smokes a day?
Posted on 8/3/14 at 2:55 pm to deeprig9
What about an old fashioned chew and spit?

There's no way to just have one dip a day.
As soon as you spit it out, you'll want another one in an hour or so.
Cold Turkey is the only way.

Sorry. Neither of you sound serious or ready to quit to me. You're both looking for magic solutions. Or replacement habits. WHich is a bad sign.
You dug this hole you're in all by yourselves. And you are going to have to sack up and climb out of it all by yourselves.
Good Luck.

quote:I used Nicorette lozenges to quit, they worked for me. I had tried Zyban back in the 90's but it didn't work. Bottom line, you've gotta truly want to stop... half assing it & being wishy washy won't work. Deciding that I wanted to see the grandkids grow up did it for me...
Cold Turkey is the only way.

I quit smoking using an e-cig about a year ago. I feel and smell better. As far as being healthy, I don't know... I'll take my chances that it's better than something proven to cause cancer.

Well said. And good for you.
I remember thinking, "How the hell will I ever enjoy fishing or long drives or etc or etc without a dip in."
It's all a fricking lie. Your brain is lying to you. Nicotine adds nothing to those experiences. It actually takes away from them.
You just have to get over the hump to be able to see it. And the sooner you are cold turkey, the sooner that clarity and freedom will arrive.

Smoked for the first time in 9th grade to act cool in front of some friends. Thought it was disgusting. Never smoked again
