Where does the 2013 Iron Bowl rank in the Pantheon of classic SEC games?

Most people will point to the ending, deservedly so, but damn that was an epic game all around. To me the ending was really just the cherry on top.

If Auburn had gone on to win the NC, it and the UGA would've been Top 5.

But as it is, just ahead of Ole Miss over Bama. Pick the year.

It's gotta be #1.

The most heated rivalry in sport, the winner advances to Atlanta, Bama gunning for an unprecedented threepeat, the craziness of the fourth quarter, and, then, the play itself.

It is the greatest college football game of all time.

Bama vs UGA SECCG is right up there.

Auburn still had to beat mizzou. Bama vs Georgia was a true defacto playoff.

Nope. That goes to USC vs. Texas 2006. Two Heisman winners on one team and I believe a 30+ game win streak going for USC. The Heisman runner up in Vince Young is the QB for the longhorns. BOTH TEAMS are undefeated. The rose bowl. It was high scoring. A national championship and a repeat was also on the line.

It doesn't get any better than that game. But Iron Bowl 2013 is probably 2nd.

I think he just means SEC games.

It was wild.

2010 was crazy too.

Quit living in the past. Still does not beat the 1985 Bama/Auburn game - that was epic.

Recency bias tends to rage with these things, but I think it legitimately may be the greatest ending in SEC history.

Just curious, where would y'all put the stumble fumble game? Considering the importance of that game it would have to be up there, right?

Not so fast.

IB was #4 vs #1. 2012 SECCG was #2 vs #3.
IB was for a trip to the SECCG. 2012 was for a trip to the National Title Game.
Both games were pretty much dead even throughout the game.
SECCG had a classic ending in its own right.

I really don't think you can say that it is, literally, the best college football game of all time.

I'm with you, brother. All time classic for me. I was there in the student section. In fact, a huge chunk of the student section was still in the stands 30 minutes after the game was over, still cheering and going crazy.

Yesterday I read the game thread on Reddit for the 2013 IB. Funny comments throughout. The ending obviously sticks in my head the most, but there were plenty of comments from fans from all over calling it a classic through the whole 4th quarter. It has to be up near the top, easily.

#1 easy.

bammer and uga have no rivalry. They were just two teams who played a good game.

Auburn vs bammer is the pinnacle of rivalries.

Dinky saben going for an all time three peat.

Auburn completing the biggest turnaround in single season NCAA history.

New coach vs old coach.

No way that any game is better than that.
