Don't know how many get these emails but this came early this morning from the University. Maybe we can get some good discussion outta this thing (warning: it's pretty lengthy)

Basically what I got from this is they're going to use "Ole Miss" mainly for athletics from now on and "The University of Mississippi" for academics. I'm ok with that. Better not ever get rid of it or "Rebels", though.

Yeah I was relieved to see that part of the report. I wholly agree with the report although some parts are more accusatory than anything else.

I always enjoy these.....it makes people absolutely flip their shite even though they never actually read the release. Currently trolling a FB thread with people like this. I keep posting examples of our school continually adding Ole Miss signage but end the post with "IF WE AREN'T CAREFUL, THEY'LL TAKE OLE MISS COMPLETELY AWAY FROM US!!!!!!!" Everyone keeps skipping over the first part and all they see is the last sentence and like my post.

People are fricking idiots.

It is pretty easy to screw with people and damn is it a good time.

If you simply scan the report, I could see how you might get concerned. There is nothing in that report that truly concerns me. The section on Greek life is interesting to me. Although I am a fraternity member, I do think that IFC as a whole could stand to put forth some effort to change the environment. I am however worried that people wouldn't give IFC a real shot to make the changes, stating that the group as a whole is a lost cause.

As much good as it would do, it will never happen.

Eh, I agree and disagree. A lot of pressure is being put on the fraternities and even more so on the leadership. I endured a ridiculous amount of racially-driven conversation in my time as president and I can only imagine how that is going to be compounded for future leaders.

good news everyone. Housing prices will be going down in Oxford shortly based on how many people I've seen threatening to leave Oxford because of this.

Reading comprehension not so gud. All this report really suggest is too keep the things we have, change some attitudes, and educate ourselves and outsiders to the real Ole Miss.

I'd like to know the number of people who actually believe the garbage they post. Most do it simply to be dissenters

I'm sure they believe it. Problem is they're so hung up on things that they don't even read shite anymore and just assume things.

Fair. I know that there are some instances where I can be instinctively defensive just based on the constant onslaught of bad happenings

The Vice Chancellor of Diversity will spend his whole time putting us in the news for advancements on race, where every single medium will rehash the cursed events of the past and we will again be put in a negative light, not matter the good intentions. Haven't they figured this stuff out? The best thing for them to do is just not EVER bring it up and let the conversation die and live in the past where it belongs.

Days like these I have little hope for our fan base. Our fans kick and scream about nothing.

We are just Germans trying to hold on to that 3rd reich a little longer..

Ok, probably too dramatic.

Nah...not overly dramatic. Germans who try to hold onto symbols of an old war are called neonazis.

Here...they're just called traditionalists or true southerners.
