Really like this get.
A true offensive guard. Really happy UF is done with Pease' philosophy with OL (recruit all tackles and make them guards).

Yes. Our OL board under him consisted of Tackles and Centers only.

Seems like y'all will be picking up commits on back to back days.

Either Pease was a straight dumbass or he has the greatest offensive mind that no common man can grasp.

UF is gonna end up with a really good OL class if things go as expected.
Merrick and one of Prince/Ivey/Burrell to go along with Jordan, Brown, and Horton.

Yes the OL class should be nasty. Barring another poor season.

That pretty much sums up every position for this class. Win or die...

I don't know enough honestly, but what is the problem with this? Tackles have better feet. But they obviously have longer arms and are taller. Is that the problem? In that guards are 6'2'' 315 as opposed to 6'6'' 315, and therefore don't win leverage battles as often with DTs, who are shorter than DEs?

A tackle is responsible for a couple of things. They are supposed to create the pocket in the passing game and run out as coverage/blockers to screen plays. In the running game they are responsible for down blocking and creating a running lane as well as targeting the second level of the defense. Guards are more about trapping and pulling in the running game. Pulling means basically they come from the side of a formation that the team is running away from. The guard will run through the hole prior to the back to try and explode the hole of outside linebackers and/or safeties. It is more important to have a guard who is good at run blocking. Guards will have to move the NT in 3-4 and will have to square up on a DT in a 4-3.

In his highlight tape, he pulled as a Tackle a ton. His HS team looked like they set the edge with the TE and pulled Horton on outside runs.
