Pinkel wanted 3* wr Kalif Jackson from the state of Florida real bad. He thinks you guys got a hidden gem who was totally underrated.

Not happy that Kalif Jackson committed to UF. We were definitely at the top of his list. UF offers and he commits immediately. Wish we could have gotten him to campus before.

This will continue to be a problem – especially after us stealing Tavon Ross and Nate Brown last year from UGA. These big teams will start watching our offers to their states and start trying to poach our gems in the rough earlier.

Were either of those guys committed to UGA?

Nope

And both offers that went out for them were late in the game and both stuck with their commitments.

That my friend is not stealing.

He's talking about getting them before you knew how good they would be in their senior year.

Another of the receivers that Vandy was looking hard at. Heard good things. Makes me wonder who Vandy is gonna get now.

A bad thing for teams like Mizzou, Vandy, and the like that rely on grabbing the 3 stars that they can develop, is that UF is gonna be grabbing these guys up, while the higher ranked guys are in wait and see mode with UF's offense and coaching decisions. These 3 stars are gonna jump at the opportunity because at other times in our history these guys would be overlooked at unless they were absolutely freakish at one aspect of the game. Kind of happy to be recruiting kids that are hungry and got the desire to prove themselves once again.

I'm not as high on Jackson. Hope I am wrong.

He's a big kid, but has slow feet. Not sure he has the width to ever grow into a true "B" position player.

One thing I do like about him is he has strong hands and catches everything.... and away from his body.

I kind of thought that was the most valued trait of a true "B" back player. I could be wrong tho.

That plays both ways. UF may also slow play a 3* or not offer him, waiting on their Option 1 and Option 2 kids and if/when they fall through offer that 3* but it may be too late at that point. Saw that with Ross, Brown last year with UGA and with McWilliams with UF.

Yeah I could definitely see that playing out. In all honesty if it seems like the higher ranked recruits arent being really receptive to the offers, I could see UF saying screw it, lets load up on about 30+ 3 stars (kinda like UT last year and A&M the year before) and be like "we got the depth moving forward". I actually hope this is the route we do take this year, given our circumstances.

I hate we couldn't pull Ross &/or Brown from MU kinda late in the cycle last year, but I have nothing but respect for those kids for honoring their commitments & realizing they could make a difference in CoMo...

Quality young men...

Has to be able to block linebackers as a "B" position guy.

At 200 pounds that shouldn't be a problem.

Hey 200 lbs is a pretty good frame to start with and im sure the strength staff can add 10 to 15 pounds more before he even laces em up.

Yeah, I fully believe that had UGA offered them earlier, they would have ended up there. Obviously, tough to do until you have the other answers.

One thing about Jackson is that he catches everything and he does it with his hands.
