I'm not wanting to start a uproar on here, but curious about some of the Bama fans thoughts on how you think the Saban/Kiffin relationship will pan out? I'm die hard LSU fan, but have great respect for Coach Saban. With Kiffin's history, I'd hate to see him mess up Saban's hard work with keeping your team as a year in year out Champion. Thanks, and looking forward to your comments.

I think it'll work. Kiffin isn't running things now. He can do his job and let the control freak that is Nick Saban handle everything. If anyone can keep Kiffin in check, it's CNS.

I'm optimistic that he'll be good for our offense.

Kiffin is a lap dog now of one of the greatest coaches in college football, even if he was to do something, it wouldn't be much.

I'm sure you would.

To answer your question, I think it will pan out fine. Surely Kiffin knows his place and wont do anything to jeopardize his opportunity.

I was one of the first posters to start posting anti-Nussy comments back in 2012. The Nussy offense wasn't the worst but it was like having a B+ offense with A+ recruits. Yea the Nussy offense had some good stats and wins but just about anyone could have won some of those games with the abundance of talent we have had. Nussy didn't know how to keep going back to the well when something was working, didn't know how to hammer a defense's weaknesses. Over the years I have provided countless examples.

Now I was excited to see us fire Nussy but the question is did we upgrade with Kiffin. There is no way I could possibly answer that question honestly, I just don't know. The rumors were, that he came to Saban showing him all of the reads our offense gave tipping the defense off to plays we were running. I am hoping that we have hired a guy who can run a 50% throw to 50% run when that is the most affective way to win a game but can abandon that for a power running game, or a pass happy offense when that is the most affective way to take adv of the defenses weaknesses.

I think that will be the biggest difference. He'll go with what works, he'll go after mismatches and weaknesses in the D, and playcalling as a whole will just be a lot better.

There's always some sort of aspect that gets in the way of the true potential of the offense, but save for Applewhite, it hasn't really affected Bama's team success. I'm sure some people will gripe with the amount of screens he runs like McElwain did, and possibly keeping the ball in the QB's hands too often with bootlegs.

As long as he realizes the backfield is the key to the offense, there shouldn't be too much of a problem. His conversions and turnovers have been inferior to Bama's over the last 5 seasons, likely due to his more split pass/run ratio.

I do not like the Kiffin hire but we will see how it plays out.

The game plan will be installed with Nick's approval and Nick has the veto power to overrule any play Kiffin wants to run. Situational football is usually where the head coach makes the call thou. I think the relationship will work for all parties.

like martyr said, being balanced is great as long as its effective. if your going against the number 1 run d in the nation, ya better b able to throw the rock. and visa/versa. i just hope kiffin uses all the weapons at his disposal effectively. if he does that, it should be a good offense.

I'd be shocked if Kiffin fulfills his 3yr contract at Bama. Imo, he leaves after 2 seasons because I think he's at Bama only to help repair his image and pad his resume. After 2 years his name will come up as a HC candidate for teams because he worked under CNS. (Of course that's if Bama's offense dominates and puts up gaudy numbers during that span)

I Agree.

I think that the Kiffin hire will is a homerun hire. I also think that this years Bama team will be one of the best team under the Saban era at UA.

Unless he pulls a Monte and decides to stay as a coordinator. If he did so then I wouldn't expect him to stay one forever but i'd imagine he'd take more than just two years to build up his ability to be a head coach.
