WW3 will take so many lives, only 5% of earth will survive. On the first day alone, more people will die than all the other wars combined (we are looking at several billion deaths).
The few that survive the chaos will be killed by disease, famine, and other people. The world shall be plunged into Anarchy. It is in this hour that the Antichrist arises and the New World Order is established.

I'm going to start saving up for some land in the Appalachia or Ozark Mountains once I get a job. should be safe.

You'll be a lot happier in life if you didn't focus on the doom and gloom all the time.

Also, you can order a food supply for a year for a family of four from Costco right now for $3500, so it's all good.

When the interviewer asks "where do you see yourself in 5 years? "

I'd leave the doomsday prepper stuff out of your answer.

Because your land purchase will totally matter in an anarchy America.

I have seen Red Dawn (the original, not that shitty new one) many times. I feel prepared.

Eh, I don't think they're all that worried about it at the Taco Bell.

I already own land in the Ozarks, and in some hillbilly mountains so redneck that nobody on here has even heard of them. I have a hand pumped well on some remote property in the Ouachitas. I'm set. But don't come to my property. I'll murder-death-kill your arse.

How much does a few acres with maybe a creek running through it cost?

It varies wildly, depending on the region, whether it is easily accessible, has electricity, national forest adjacent, and what creek/river.

In western Arkansas I bet you could find creekside land for < $2000/acre in some areas.

Guess I'm a head of you on this. My family has land in Appalachia with a creek on it... But I don't think that would help much if ww3 happened tomorrow.

I have a suspicion that people are a bit tired of fighting -- and that few people will actually act out on something that could cause worldwide devastation (nuclear winter type of talk).

China really, really, really doesn't want to pick a fight with us and Russia is even more reluctant. There are no other external threats that could even come close to doing any kind of land invasion or even battle of attrition with the United States.

A lot of people will say not to underestimate enemies, but the technological difference is just far, far too much at this point. China barely successfully landed a rover on the Moon when we've already landed 4 of them on Mars that were responsive.

No idea why people think anyone is going to make a move right now.

Iran is tied up with propping up Assad, North Korea would probably kill itself if it tried anything fishy, China just wants everyone to calm down and Russia is not nearly the power people thought it to be.

TL;DR, nothing's going to happen for the better part of 20 years, if at all. Technology gap is too large.

My husband has a family farm in Mississippi that's off the beaten path with a well and shelter. We should be okay if we need to bug out.
