[It’s not a new concept, entirely. In the 1970s, the anthropologist Margaret Mead predicted the growing popularity of “serial monogamy,” involving a string of monogamous marriages. Helen Fisher, the biological anthropologist, has advocated for much of the same: she believes humans aren’t meant to be together forever, but in short-term, monogamous relationships of three or four years. Stephanie Coontz, the author of Marriage: A History, has advised a marriage contract “reup” every five years — or before every major transition in life — “with a new set of vows that reflect what the couple has learned.”

I like the Presidential with a mix of multiple partner model.

Sounds like millenials have some commitment issues.

I respectfully disagree, they don't have a problem committing for 3-4 years or whatever they choose.

Also how is this Beta trend becoming the norm? They answered a survey about what they want. This isn't actually occurring (at least not legally).

This model definitely favors males. So I am in favor.

Can't speak for everyone, but it's been well over a decade and all I can say is, I am content...

...She know what I need.

And honestly, you have the Beta model if you actually date someone for an extended period of time (and live with them) before committing to marriage.

The problem isn't the monogamy itself as much as how people handle the commitment that marriage takes. If you don't feel comfortable committing to a person for a lifetime then maybe you shouldn't be getting married in the first place.

Just because in 1549, the Church of England created this "till death do us part" doesn't mean its right.

I think most have evolved since 1549.

This isn't exactly a new thing.

See Roman marriage laws regarding, confarreatio, coemptio, and usus marriages.

Wouldn't be interested in any of these, tbh

Seems like even more of a headache than, you know, just sticking it out with a single spouse

Mrs. Out and I were talking about something similar last night. It started with an offhand comment about sister wives and having multiple women.

after about 30 minutes we decided it was in everybody's best interest that we just stick with one spouse, but that Mrs. Out should give it up more often.

This is the solution we always come to, as well.

I'll be honest, I really just don't have the mental fortitude to deal with trying to frick more than one woman at a time. Much easier for me to be all or nothing, and give Aggiebelle my undivided attention without any of the extra drama.

As long as she realizes and understands that she's my only outlet and makes an effort to be available along those lines, I really have all I could ask for in life, tbh.

Serious question, what is the acceptable number of times per week?

In Tbird's ideal world, 4-5 times per week.

That rarely happens with our crazy work schedules, though but that's how often I want her on a regular basis.

Depends. Do you have kids? How many and how old?

For someone who loves his open marriage, and totally isn't trolling about it, you sure do love trying to sell a message board on your e-lifestyle.
