After over a decade as HC at UGA, what do they have to show for it other than the, "Mark Richt Has Lost Control" meme. He has a wining record against Auburn and Georgia Tech? Big Woop. Auburn has experienced 3 coaching changes during his tenure and can still claim more SEC & National Championships

Auburn fired Gene Chizik 2 years removed from a NC so I know Richt would have been kicked to the curb years ago. How long would your school keep a coach known for arrest and failure to meet expectations? Even if he is a "really good guy"

Richt hasnt missed a bowl game in his tenure despite consistently playing 2 BCS conference teams each year in their OOC schedule.

Hes had 3 teams that were very close from playing in the MNC. He has represented the East numerous times in the SECCG. Every season is awesome to watch and we know that win/lose every game has the potential to be a W despite how good the team we are playing is....

He'd still be at our place. He would be gutted on the regular but he has the mental toughness to coach in this league. Not many do.
Add in he's a class guy and represents the school and conference well, most schools would be ecstatic to have him.

Richt has never done enough to be fired. I doubt he would have been fired at AU, as tubs and chizik actually did something/enough to cause themselves to be fired. He also always does well enough every now and then to retain his job.

When, specifically, would Auburn have fired him?

He also hasn't gone 0-8 in his conference.Easy with the whole high-and-mighty "wE eckspect eggsellence n nuthin butt @ AUBURN!!1" schtick. Most SEC schools fire their coach after 0-8 seasons in the conference. Mark Richt would still be around at any school but Alabama and maybe Florida or LSU.

It is weird but ever since I saw his reaction after that loss in the SECCG on 2012 I have had a new found respect for Richt. I don't want to rag on him...

He'd be one of our better coaches if not 2nd best.

His only challenge would be 'crootin.

So I guess this is why UGA can't have nice[r] things? You guys take pride in "almost" i.e We almost won the SEC, We almost played in the NC?

I mean, if you guys like going to Florida bowls every year then who am I to judge

this

plus, Richt may well have still won you your natty with Cam

AU is traditionally one of the better programs, but y'all kept Pat Dye forever and he never won the natty...

Unless something drastic occurs I think he will retire a Dawg.

No program would fire him, save maybe Alabama because they're just crazy enough. He's a dream come true for any University President, he does enough for ADs and shows promise for big boosters. His biggest knock is that he's in a conference with the likes of Saban, Spurrier, and - at one time - Meyer. He isn't that same personality and that is held against him despite his record.

His point could not have gone any further over your head.
