There are about 8 Asst Coaches on each of the 125 FBS teams who are also recruiters in one way or another. So that's about 1000 possible "recruiting" coaches altogether in the FBS.

Some Asst Coaches are known to be outstanding recruiters, they might not even be the best position coach, but there is no denying they get it done with recruiting.

Is your team dominated/benefited from having 1 of these "Power Recruiters" on staff, or do the coaches kind of share the load and everybody brings in some good players here and there?

Here's a ranking of the Asst Coaches as Recruiters from the 247 Composite.

Yes. Thigpen is an elite recruiter. Him and CBJ seem to bring in the bulk of the talent.

Eta: though he isn't on that list

Thigpen just about single handedly signed just over half our class last year. Gillespie and Mark Elder seem pretty solid as well. Butch seems to assist with the most critical recruits.

A&M has a staff full of recruiters. Brian Polian was a top recruiter recently, he went and got the Utah State job I believe. The whole staff has a hand in it almost equally. The only coach not really out on the road as much as most others, report wise, is Snyder, the DC.

I saw that SC had 2 of the Top 12 guys, but I was also surprised we had 6 of the Top 60 as well. I don't think we have a Power Recruiter, b/c a lot of teams aren't finished bringing in their classes, so the rankings are a little skewed now. I think our staff does a good job of 'everybody do your part' and recruiting these players.

Mangus #12
Elliott #36
Ward #52
Botkin #56

And of course the Number 1 recruiter, Mr. David Beaty.

I kind of liked Pittman while he was at Tennessee. There was not much rushing production but I've come to realize that was more because of Dooley than Pittman. (See former Vols saying that no one took conditioning and lifting seriously under Dooley.)

UGA's staff has three coaches who have combined to win the 247 National Recruiter of the Year award the past four years (Bobo, Pruitt x2, McClendon) and John Lilly, who was the recruiting coordinator at FSU under Bowden.

Beaty is #1 for 2015 now on 247 ( LINK) and would probably be our power guy if you had to choose one. It really is a staff effort though, BJ Anderson is excellent, Terry Price has done a good job as well

Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see them ranked so low.

It's simply based on who is listed as the recruiter for 2015 recruits relative to how highly ranked an individual recruit is ranked. It's not a terribly reliable list to go off of given that it's only July. Now, if someone wanted to go back 3-5 years and average each coach's ranking, then you may have a more reliable sample.

Great recruiter and it is not limited to just players. Coeds beware.

Yeah you would have to compile it over an extended period to get a definitive list, I just showed it since Beaty is killing it this cycle. It fluctuates greatly year to year

Frank Wilson isn't top three. This list is irrelevant.
