Spurrier was Saban before Saban without the SEC bump…

In 1993, 1995, 1997 and 2001 Spurrier finish in the top 4 and slipped up during the season in a game that Florida should have won based on being more talented. Unfortunately for Spurrier he didn't benefit from an SEC bump in the media like Saban and get second chances in 1993, 1997 or 2001. Oddly enough Spurrier needed a second chance in his only championship season 1996.

To Saban's credit he did earn a title in 2009 but did need some luck to do it.

Cheers to Saban and Spurrier both with a rightful place on the SEC Coaches Mount Rushmore aided largely by being media darlings. Here's hoping Gus stays a media darling.

Enjoy

A man could come in and wreck teams like Saban and Spurrier and never speak a word and never be seen by a camera, and they'd still be on the Rushmore of the SEC.

Malzahn has a LONG way to go. So far, he's 0-1 in the big one. If Malzahn never gets a national title, does Chizik have a bigger boog audience than Malzahn in 20+ years? I think so.

Hopefully he'll stay a media darling and get chances we won't always have a quality opponent sooner or later we'll play a Notre Dame 2012 level team.

Sometimes grammar is important. Not often, but sometimes.

Good point. Notre Dame would have destroyed the Oregon team y'all beat down in a buzzer beater. #cough

I don't know how I did it, either.

I think he is just fricked in the head.

Not every coach is lucky enough to back in to a title loss on the last day of the season. Sucks for Spur dawg.

Spurrier is great. Saban is great. You're just insecure.
