Jordus Smith (CB / Gulfport, MS)

Our diamonds. Stars are for primadonnas and 'cruitin' championships.

This guy is so humble he doesn't even need a scout or rivals profile.

Pretty big stud IMO... Just a guaranteed JUCO guy...

Is Freeze losing steam in recruiting?

Seems like things have shifted after the Egg Bowl.

He's a kid that the coaches are really high on. He's a sign and place. He's only played 1 year of high school football and came to camp last week. Ran a 4.5 on the laser and shut down MS's #2 WR, Jaylen Smith. Coaches think he will be like Tony Bridges. Go to JUCO and blowup.

I hear what you're saying. The 'cruitin championship' y'all won two years ago that we heard so much about on here was impressive though.

There indeed are diamonds in the rough, I'm reminded of Captain Munnerlyn. He was N/R on Rivals in '06 until he committed to SC and got 2 Stars, it was a nice 'atta boy.' Now Captain is earning $3.5M this year playing for the Vikings.

That January/February was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun. Next years class, 2016, could be a lot better than that 2013 class, but won't be as exciting.

Oh, and Captain and Garcia remain two of my favorite players from the East

Ha, Jordus will have no effect on Bridges. Smith will play JUCO this upcoming season and then redshirt the following season. Bridges will be gone by the time Smith even touches the field.

And, that's IF Jordus even makes grades or develops into the player we think he can. It took him two years in high school before making grades to play this past season.

It'd be pretty badass if we used the MS Juco system as our minor league.

That's what Nutt started to do, but he immediately became very lazy and couldn't keep up with them...well, Nutt couldn't even keep up with his own players on campus.

We should pay the teachers to flunk some of the future studs, so no interest is drawn, we sign and place, and boom.

Why even signed him if you're 100% that he won't get qualified? Just point him in the direction of the JUCO of your choosing and tell him you'll be back for him in two years. That way you don't waste a spot in your 25 that you can't get back once he fails to qualify.

Because, IIRC, if we sign and place the guy, he can transfer to us after only one year...pending grades.

We can only sign somewhere between 15-20 this year and we didn't sign the full 25 last year. So basically we have a few of LOI that are going to be wasted if we don't use them. This way we can see how he progresses and if he is good we can bring him on next year, and if he doesn't then we didn't really lose anything. I'd guess we do this with one or two more this year
