How do you go to them and try to explain to them that they have a problem?

This said person must post at least 7-10 times per day, and yesterday had FIFTEEN posts Every little thought that pops into their head, they post it. Its like facebook is their own personal diary.

I've tried explaining this to them before, and so have others, but this person flat out denies that they have a problem.

This person works, and is in college too, and it clearly affects the way they live their life.

On FB? yeah, that's an issue. I think I've only posted, at most, 3 times in one day (and even that was upload photos, share a status, and share a link). Even then, it's pretty rare.

Twitter, depends.

My only beef with FB are some of the political shite. I have friends on both sides of the aisle, whose posts I'll enjoy, but some of the others are complete shite.

wurd.

i'll post politically on here, but at the end of the day it's just some anonymous posters who i'm not affecting IRL. I don't know why people would choose to put out something to alienate their friends on FB

This. I don't want to read political shite from my friends/family.

Yep. It got so bad that I deleted Facebook. It's disheartening to see how stupid some of my friends and family are, and when I see stupid I feel compelled to point and laugh at stupid.

That seems completely out of character for you.

Facebook just depresses me now. A lot less pictures of drunk college sloots and mainly pictures of engagements, weddings, and babies.

Seeing one of my ex's post a picture of the classroom she is going to be teaching in a few weeks from now felt really weird.

Has no one heard of a victory lap?

Just a quick question for clarity. Are we just talking about Facebook or are we talking about social media? Last time I checked TD was social media and to get to 17000 posts in about three years you would have to post about 15 times a day... just saying.

It would be a better comparison to use how many threads a person starts instead of posts.

Impressive level of cognitive dissonance in this thread.

Probably should change the thread title to facebook, but I get your point

Difference is I wouldn't say TD controls my life. Point of my post was how do you explain to someone whos obsessed with facebook that they have a problem?

Who's it hurting? Are you embarrassed for them and want them to stop? People embarrass themselves in all sorts of ways, doesn't mean they're being bad or need you to step in to stop them just because you don't like it.

ftr, I don't like Facebook at all. Mostly because of exactly what you're saying this person does. That's why I did something about it. I got rid of my account. If this is bothering you, you should do the same.

Unless you're married to this person. In which case, I'd divorce her.
