I know we all use the term but it must have an origin.

IIRC, an Aub started calling them corndogs due to the delicious smell on campus. Who doesn't love a hot, crispy corndog slathered in mustard?

It started because Auburn folks noticed that yeasty, bourbon like smell, mixed with sweat and hot sauce and swamp water...smelled like corndogs.

Not that theres anything wrong with that.

Honestly, it was a silly joke once, but it pisses the Choot Em! crowd off so we keep saying it.

0/10 but to answer your question:

Auburn beat/blog writer used it in a satire piece in c2004. It was used/stolen from what B12 fans have always called Nebraska fans.

I do know its not directly related to a lucky guy that was a retard, that Bear Bryant referred to as "He's the dumbest SOB alive, but he sure is fast!"

it was a famous internet post about nebraska i believe (it made sense with them..cornhuskers..corndogs). some auburn fan took the post and did a find/replace with nebraska and lsu and that version ended up being more famous than the original.

no doubt, corndogs are tasty. but lsu's campus on gameday smells like gumbo/jambalaya, etc. very different smell.

it was an auburn poster on an old message board. stole from a write up about nebraska fans and just replaced nebraska with LSU.

This, I think 95% of LSU fans just use it as a way to be funny. In Tennessee the entire section I was in chanted "we want corndogs" after we found out they weren't selling them. And at Auburn, every time a vendor passed by we would ask if he had corndogs. Some older Auburn fans were sitting next to us and you could tell they were thinking "holy shite, its true..."

I have seen many LSU fans go to away games with corndogs hanging from a belt loop.
