So i was fortunate to have work take me to Northern Arizona this last week. They were pretty loose with the schedule and got to take a lot of scenic trips. Absolutely stunning country. I've never considered moving anywhere, but Flagstaff Arizona seems like just about one of the best places in the US i've been.

Just thought I'd share pictures for anybody interested.

Navajo Reservation I had to do some work on.

Grand Canyon

Flagstaff

Sedona

Drove through Flagstaff while moving back to CA after graduating high school some years ago. It caught me off guard at how scenic everything was. Beautiful area

Yes it is. Amazing the changes of scenery in just a few miles for that state.

I flew into Phoenix and drove up. You go from Phoenix Metro area to butt ugly desert for 100 miles, then as soon as you hit Sedona area, beautiful painted desert and plateaus. Then 15 miles north of Sedona you're in the mountains and pine trees with 70 degree highs. 15 miles north of Flagstaff is West Texas scrub country till you get to the canyon.

I do enjoy the southwest, I just get to missing the Gulf too much.

Phoenix reminded me of a little LA with an uglier outdoor setting around it. Flagstaff really surprised me with the Alpine Forests and all the snow that the area got. I'd love to do some backpacking and snow boarding in the area one year.

Watch out for winter in Flagstaff. Roads will shut down.

Awesome pics.

I went to NAU for undergrad. Never really thought I'd miss Flag, but the weather as of late has changed that. I'd kill for the Flagstaff weather right now.

One poster mentioned skiing up there. Cool thing – students head to the Snowbowl early in the morning for a few hours of boarding/skiing then take off to class. Not a lot of places where you can do that.

In any case, hard to beat the northern part of Arizona.

Flagstaff is beautiful.

I was lucky enough to drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff in Apr-May one year and could not believe that I went from hot desert like temps to snow on the ground in just a few miles.

Yeah the transition to 4k elevation is very sudden on the trip. Desert and 100 degrees....boom 68 degrees and pine forest.

I would love to be able to do it again today. Seeing elk on the side of the road was amazing. We are going to vegas next year for our 10 year. I would love to drive back and spend a few days in flag.

One of the best places I've seen in this country.

Thanks for posting the beautiful pics. Eventhough, I now live in beautiful north central Montana having lived most of my life in Louisiana, I have always found Arizona and the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff area to be absolutely gorgeous.

Am I going to see you at the Stanford rodeo? Or has that already happened?

OP, pretty pics. Northern AZ is a pretty place for sure.

I think this might be the first non-douchie post I've seen from you, and I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

The only way you could possibly feel that way is if you and I are on far different ends of the political spectrum or you take my slight trolling attempts far too seriously. Mizz_Cou and Stonehog are the only posters I am purposely douchy to.
