Fairly ridiculous statement for a team that might go 6-6 and go to the Birmingham Bowl. No way MSU beats Alabama, LSU, Auburn, A&M or Ole Miss. Will probably lose to Arkansas, Kentucky or Vanderbilt, and watch out for South Alabama.

I could see them getting lucky and winning 10, but there's no way they make the playoff.

I remember when Mullen was on the hot seat back in early November of last year.

People must REALLY think highly of Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Rice for these sorts of opinions to become en vogue at this point of the offseason. I, for one, am flattered.

Besides LSU, I think I've seen y'all beat the other three teams maybe once or twice combined in my lifetime.

Let's say you were born in 1990. That would equal us beating Bama and Auburn a combined 6 times since you turned 10.

But that has nothing to do with my initial post. Fact is Freeze has beaten twice as many of that list in two seasons compared to Mullen's five. You really think y'all can make a run when your only two impressive SEC wins, under 5 year coach Dan Mullen, are 09 OM and 13 OM, both at home? 2010 Georgia and 2012 Auburn were on par with a C-USA team those years. 2010, IIRC, is questionable. Very bad team, but did win in Gainesville.

I just don't see how there can be so much confidence when your coach has not had success against these other coaches. Freeze has had success against Miles, Gus, and Sumlin. No success, at all, against Bama, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but I do hope we progress against Bama and Kirby Smarts defense.

I could also see them winning 10, but no making the playoff.

This. With a 10 win season, their losses would most likely both come in the last three weeks of the season.

Freeze has had success against Gus and Sumlin? Isn't he 0-3 against them?

Best Case Scenario:

W Southern Miss
W UAB
W @South Alabama
L @LSU
W Texas A&M
L Auburn
W @Kentucky
W Arkansas
W UT-Martin
L @Alabama
W Vanderbilt
W @ Ole Miss

9-3 Regular Season (Could get to 10 if they pull off an upset against LSU/Auburn/Bama)
Bowl Win and I could see them getting to 10 wins.

Yet you have finished behind us in the standings all but twice since 2006. Color me unimpressed. One win vs. a Jekhyll and Hyde LSU squad doesn't make you a world beater, but I think you probably realized that at Thanksgiving when you were supposed to kick our arse.

Even better was that he included AU in his bullshite, when he pointed out their 2012 CUSA status in the very same post.

The two schools flipping last place and next to last most years leaves me unimpressed as well...

Mullen has a win against Sumlin. It was a blow-out win. Just sayin'.

Just bc Mullen hasn't beaten good teams in the past doesn't mean he won't do it in the future... I agree it's a trend, but those get broken every year in college football

MSU will be very good this year.... if not, Mullen will never compete in the west... it's set up well for them.

I think 9 is very possible. I think they win their home games - including Auburn.

10 would mean beating Ole Miss, LSU or Bama on the road. All tough. 11 would mean winning two of those and if they got to 11, they probably deserve a playoff bid despite their pedigree as a cellar dweller.

Assuming they win their four non-conference games, and I don't see why they won't.

Then assume they win their home SEC games, with only Auburn being a tossup.

Assume they beat Kentucky on the road. That's 9.

They have

at LSU
at Bama
at Ole Miss

They could win 0, 1, or 2 of those. If they win 2 and take care of business where they should, they will be 11-1 and quite possibly in Atlanta. Do they have to win the SEC Championship to make the playoff, or could they sneak in at 11-2 with wins over Auburn, LSU and say a top 15 Ole Miss?
