Anyone else see this as being a direct result of Adams leaving and Morehead actually being likeable?

Holy Adam West's chin....
That is an ungodly sum of money. I assume football won't see much of that.

Only the second time in history UGA has broken the 120 mark in private donations and that one other time was largely due to a single donation of $40+ million. This is a very, very good sign for the University that enough people are giving to the school to generate that much. And, no none of this will go to Athletics. As Morehead has emphasized in the past a desire to move away from the typical brick-and-mortar spending Adams loved (i.e. building anything and everything he could on campus) I imagine a lot of this will go toward faculty raises, new hires, and enhancing the actual academics instead of the physical properties of campus. That doesn't mean you're not going to see new construction on campus (in an ever growing world, new buildings are going to keep UGA competitive and continue to meet the needs of future students) but you will see greater emphasis being placed on the actual quality of the academics as opposed to the flashiness of the physical campus.

I'm just curious if this means that the Alumni Center that has been batted around for so long is finally going to be built across the quad from Tate, on top of the open air deck along Lumpkin. Seems that the support an interest is there from the donors.

After staying in Brumby for a few nights at orientation Morehead needs to think about throwing some money at the highrises. Everything is stuck in the 70's over there. One of the hall hang out rooms I walked by looked like a trap house living room.

And DD, get over it. Dorms will still be one of the best years of your life, you don't need to stay in the Ritz for that to happen

This. The last thing I was interested in doing as a freshman was staying in one of the nicer dorms.

The dorms are and have been in awful shape for some time. It's actually one of the only knocks I can completely sympathize with for someone coming out of HS and looking at colleges. UGA dorms have to be on par with the worst in the state.
The problem is, those dorms hold so many people and there is so little space on campus for a dorm of that size without tearing down one of the current ones, where would you move everyone in order to rebuild? Not to mention that those are massive structures that would take some time to demo without causing mayhem to everything around them plus having to build something that big again would take years as well.

I don't have the slightest idea what its purpose would be but it keeps popping up on campus master plans. Personally, I just want something - anything - built on top of that open part of the Tate deck. Drives me insane every time I drive by that part of campus and see this gaping maw of concrete. They need to figure out what's going there and start executing. Especially since new Bolton is almost done and the Terry Expansion will be done by the time Notre Dame comes to town. That area of campus is going to look spectacular save for that damn parking lot.

Doesn't Alabama have all brand new dorms or something?

I recently saw the plans for the Terry expansion

I think so. They've been building up their campus like nobody's business. From what I understand, bama housing looks like ECV all over campus.

Is the Terry expansion going where the sigma chi house was? And Bolton is on the other side of Baxter at the corner with Lumpkin?
It's been a while since I've walked over there.
