Does anyone else think this human panel is a bit concerning?
Was the computer really that wrong in picking the Top 4 teams?

Personally, I would rather have the computers.

Computers aren't perfect, but they have less bias than 13 individuals.

Agreed.....especially with 'ties'

I'd rather have the individuals.
Case in point:
Which is a better victory? A win over an 11-1 Kent State team or a win over the 2-10 Kentucky team that smashed them?

At the end of the day, I don't think it matters. Either way, eventually a team will be screwed.
The improvement was in creating a 4 team playoff, not the ranking system.

Should have kept the bcs system. Playoff system is a bad idea in general.

Both are subject to issues, but a room of 13 people can have a dialogue. A pre-programed computer software is going to make the mistake no matter what.

Well it should be noted that the "computers" only made up 1/3 of the BCS rating. The other 2/3 were still people.

People choose/load data into computers.

Is it realistic for the committee to watch every single game? I don't think so. Thus their opinion and dialogue will be mostly based on watching SportsCenter, which doesn't support truly meaningful discussion.

Computers. They take into account human ideas (polls) and unbiased formulas.

BCS computer....JMHO
The BCS got the right teams in the BCSNCG. It was just that third "what if" team, which will now be the fifth team.
I think the AP and computers were right most of the time.
"IMO" I think we should keep the ranking system and just let the four top ranked teams play for the natty no matter what conference they're all in.

ESPN, etc...is already influencing voters. Which made up 2/3 of the BCS vote. I do think 13 people tasked with the responsibility they will have can analyze data, watch the games of significance, etc…and make a better decision than a computer. Will they have issues? See my original post.

No. Should have kept.

Who is on the committee? Do all of them have the football-knowledge capacity to actually contribute to a decision. Condi Rice is brilliant, I think she is an awesome person, but does she know enough about football to add meaningful value?

Not in 2001, 2003, or 2004. In all three cases, the team that didn't belong lost badly.

depends on what computer obviously but i do like the idea of eliminating the human "eye test" nonsense and just focusing on the resumes.

Yeah, but those people weren't in the same room arguing with each other, which I'd guess will happen now. I like this better than some geek (I include myself in this group) writing a program to pick 'em.
