Marquavius Lewis is from Greenwood, South Carolina originally. So it was no big shock this week when he named South Carolina his No. 1 school.

Lewis (6-4/270) is rated the No. 2 junior college prospect in America and the No. 1 defensive end in those ranks. He is currently at Kansas’ Hutchinson Community College and has already taken official visits to Arizona State and Miami this summer, but his visit to South Carolina on July 25th might just be the pivotal one. And who knows? Maybe after next weekend, his decision will be finalized? Time will tell.

Seriously though, he's going to be a great DE. Wish he was here this season.

Yes, he's coming in with his family for an OV. He doesn't have any other visits lined up after our visit. He's said his family is pushing for him hard to go to SC, and several of the Greenwood connections guys are doing their part as well. We're looking good for a commitment at this point in time.

I guess at one time Greenwood High had Lewis and Sam Montgomery as their DEs on each side, plus DJ Swearinger in the secondary? Had to have been one scary-arse high school defense

Never looked at it that way. Wouldn't kelcy quarles have been on that team as well?

Nah, Lewis is younger than Swearinger, Quarles and those guys. Plus Lewis didn't start playing until his Jr year in HS. Those guys already graduated from HS by then.

What was Hurley's first name? Rico or something like that? Big linebacker.

Who else out of Greenwood? I'm thinking Robert Brooks and Brandon Bennett maybe? I dunno ... can't remember. I may be confused.

Either way that is a lot of talent coming from a very small area. It might be better than South Pointe in terms of overall number of quality players.

Ricardo.

Marquavius looks like he could suit up for an NFL team tomorrow. Would be a huge get.
