Reports saying 295 people are all presumed dead after being shot down by surface to air missile over the Ukraine/Russian border.

only 35 miles from the border. It looks like they are quoting a facebook post by a Ukrainian official on the shot-down cause.

ABC news just wrongly reported that the Buk system only goes to 22,000 feet. According to wikipedia it is a maximum range of 20mi.
Both Ukraine and Russia have Buk systems in operation.

Not to say this was Russia, but the Russians have shot down civilian aircraft before, saying they thought it was a spy plane.
There have also been Russian armored incursions in the same area that this plane was shot down as well. There is easily a chance this could be either country.
