Bowl Pecking Order for 2014 season

As I understand it, here is what the "postseason" looks like for the SEC
1. Championship Playoff in either the Rose or Sugar Bowl.
2. Orange Bowl (the SEC still puts it's best available team in the Sugar bowl; BUT, when the Sugar is one of the "playoff venues', we have cut a deal with the Orange Bowl.
3. Capital One Bowl
AFTER THAT, the SEC selects which teams go to the:
4. Outback Bowl
5. Music City Bowl
6. Gator Bowl
7. Liberty Bowl
8. Texas Bowl
9. Belk Bowl
AFTER THAT, the
10. Birmingham Bowl will have its choice of any available SEC team.
ALL of our bowl tie ins are against the B1G, Big 12 & ACC. That sucks. We should have at least ONE out of 10 bowls be a PAC 12 tie in...
I, for one, will not miss Shreveport.

Oh yeah, the Peach Bowl also picks a highly ranked 'at large" team. Who thinks they won't take the best SEC team they can get?
So, unless the SEC champion gets left out of the playoffs (which could only happen if our champ has 2 losses and all the other champs are undefeated or only have 1 loss); we have to have TWELVE bowl eligible teams for Bham to get an SEC team...
I am pretty sure that the Peach is higher in the pecking order than the Capital one - can anyone confirm that?

Atlanta ~ Nashville ~ Jacksonville ~ Memphis ~ Charlotte ~ Houston ~ Tampa ~ Orlando ~ Miami
What the hell is wrong with that?
The only shitty landing spot is birmingham...

its not about the location its about the prestige. 6-6 teams to go the music city bowl.
outside of the championship bowls id only go to the peach,cap1, outback or gatorbowl.

It's difficult to really make assumptions with it. With there being no limit to the number of teams we can get into the "Championship" Bowls(and no tie-ins to 3 of them), IMO we can probably assume we get one more in team the Peach/Cotton more years than not. While I know those tie-ins are gone, IF those bowls have any say in who they get, you expect them to have a natural bias for the SEC anyway... and IF they are taking the best available teams, the #4 SEC team will almost always be in the top 10...
The rotating playoff makes it really difficult to project from multiple years out though. The Orange tie-in makes it practically impossible(we get teams in a minimum of 3 times every 8 years, but not more than 5 times every 8 years). Think we get 3 or 4 in those bowls every year -- but time will tell.
Will be interesting to see how the totally stupid money from the playoff gets divided. If we're doing it "fairly", it'll be like the basketball tournament -- and you money based on your total number of games played over X period of time.

Texas Bowl in Houston is matched up against a Big 12 school. That could start to become a good game/matchup down the road.

Did you forget the Cotton Bowl?

Cap One is considered higher than Peach...not much higher, but historically one "pick" ahead.

Cotton bowl, Peach bowl, and the four BCS bowls are the six playoff venues. This is perfect since the cotton and peach were some of the premiere bowls in the past but got the shaft when the BCS came around.

The Group of Six (Outback, Gator, Music City, Liberty, Texas, Belk) aren't in any particular order but are technically in one big pool. The SEC has said it will assign teams, among those available, to create new matchups and travel opportunities for fans. As I read it, the SEC is within its rights to send a 7-5 Vandy team, for example, to Jacksonville and an 8-4 Georgia team to Nashville.

What Mike Slive said was that the "SEC home office" selects which teams go. He said they'll listen to input from the programs, the bowl reps and ADs but the SEC home office has the final say-so and will be making the decision who goes where from the Outback down.
Personally, I'm not a fan of that. The SEC home office has proven it usually does not make great decisions when it comes to placing programs in bowls.

Cotton Bowl is out of the SEC rotation. Replaced with Texas Bowl in Houston.
Its going to be odd to realize that the Liberty and Outback are the same payout, same prestige now, along with Music City, Gator, Belk and Texas.

Well not anymore. Peach bowl is part of the playoff rotation now

And rightfully so. The Peach Bowl fan experience is as good as the old BCS games. The Capital One sucks like the Cotton did pre-JerryWorld.

it will be a huge bag of fail when they try to send a big program to the music city bowl. I love nashville but I refuse to go to it for a bowl game.

Wow, that really blows we don't have a cotton bowl bid anymore. I mean seriously, can we get a more creative bowl name than the fricking Texas Bowl?
It's a great state and all, but shite what a dull bowl name

Um, if you are 8 - 4 and going to play a 9 - 3 Mich State or VA Tech or other "big name" program that is 9 - 3; Nashville or Charlotte would be just fine.
I would go to Nashville to see the 8 - 4 or 9 - 3 Dawgs take on somebody with a comparable record
