Actually, we're in the southwestern portion of the US ... for now.
Mexico is a country to our south.

Don't forget all these French from the east coming into our state. Not only is it bad enough that they're french, but they're actually proud of it. Forget building a wall in the Rio Grand, let's build one in the Sabine river instead

There are actually is a strong German influence in Texas.... especially in and around San Antonio.
