Wanna thank Commissioner Slive for putting this together. Only a UVA grad could gather this many sad men in khakis who don't know how to love.

quote:

I heard Will Muschamp read off the whole roster yesterday. That's a big accomplishment for a UGA grad.

Will's been watching the World Cup. Lotta falling and crying before scoring there, too.

quote:

Thank y'all for coming. Stick around for the Tennessee guys, since you won't talk to them again after September.

Have to admit I love that guy, even when he was beatin' LSU's arse over at UF (often).

Love Spurrier just because he is not afraid to be different than other coaches. Dude also has a great sense of humor. He once told a joke about the library at Auburn burning down and how some of the books hadn't even been colored in yet

Sense of humor. Buy one with that UGA education.

I'm sure those quotes would have definitely made my twitter feed if the OBC had actually made them.

One of my favorites.

This is the best part of Kentucky football, because it's sitting indoors watching a coach in a suit.

Some of those are good but others are WAY too forward. The real Spurrier is subtle about his insults.

This made me think about your last two hires, similarities and who might be in line based on that. Lou was known for his one liners and Spurrier has that knack for humor, usually sarcastically founded. If this was one of the criteria for the next coach, who out there fits the bill? Nutt comes to mind, Les has a humorous side as well. Others?

How I feel. I can't really find them funny unless he actually said them. I only imagine some mid-20's douche sitting behind his keyboard typing them.

It would not suprise me if Spurrier just kicks the Midget in the balls one day for the hell of it.

Plot twist!! It really is Spurrier saying them, but using a spoof page as a duck blind from which to shoot his barbs...

I remember that. It was hilarious.

I remember the night that fire happened too ... wasn't it during a Thursday night football game or something? I remember the cameras kept showing the fire, or the smoke, during the game. Seemed like it was fairly near the stadium.

Steve Spurrier Quotes

On Tennessee and the Citrus Bowl… “You can’t spell Citrus without UT”

After being asked if he thought Florida would beat Georgia… “Is Ray Goff still coaching there?”

“I know why Peyton came back for his senior year: he wanted to be a three-time Citrus Bowl MVP”

“In 12 years at Florida, I don’t think we ever signed a kid from the state of Alabama…Of course, we found out later that the scholarships they were giving out at Alabama were worth a whole lot more than ours.”

In response to an Auburn dorm fire that burned books… “but the real tragedy was that fifteen hadn’t been colored yet.”

“You know what FSU stands for, don’t you? Free Shoes University”

On Georgia recruiting… “Why is it that during recruiting season they sign all the great players, but when it comes time to play the game, we have all the great players? I don’t understand that. What happens to them?”

On Danny Wuerffel taking hits… “I think he’s sort of a New Testament guy. He gets slapped in the face, and he turns the other cheek. He says, ‘Lord, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ I’m probably more of an Old Testament guy, an eye for an eye. You spear our guy in the ear hole and we think we’re supposed to be able to spear you in the ear hole. That’s how we’re a little different.”

On playing Georgia the second week of the season… “I don’t know. I sort of always liked playing them that second game because you could always count on them having two or three key players suspended.”

“All I can say is that I’m going to try to coach the way I’ve coached in the past. And if it ends up not being good enough, then so be it.”
