The Gamecocks tied their highest ranking in program history. They have been No. 2 three previous times, for two weeks in 1981, one in 1982.

It is the highest ranking USC has ever had in the AP preseason poll. The previous high was No. 4 before the 1981-82 season.

Our WBB team is going to wreck so much shite the next few years.

It'll be fun to watch, I'll have to go to a few games this year. See them in person.

The Women had their first exhibition game today, versus Coker College. USC won 100-25. I guess that's why they call them exhibitions, lol...

A'ja Wilson led the Gamecocks with 18 pts on 8-13 FGs, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists. Coates followed with 16 pts (7-10 FGs), 7 rebs, and 4 blocks. Ibiam added 12 pts (6-9 FG) with 4 boards, 2 blocks and 2 assists.

Also in the action was Dozier with 9 pts (4-4 FG including one from the arc), 3 rebounds, 1 block, steal, and 1 assist. A good all-around showing for Asia who has yet to truly show her potential as a Gamecock. Hopefully this will be her coming out season, even though she was a starter last season...

Welch added 8 pts on 4-4 FG with 2 rebs and a block, Cuevas added 7 pts (3-7 FG, 1-5 3pt FG) with 3 rebs & 2 stls, and Tiffany Davis also scored 7 pts on 2-3 FG, one from the arc.

I was happy to see Olivia Gaines contribute well with only 2 pts, but also 4 assists and 5 rebounds, with a steal. I think Olivia is a gutsy little player that has more talent than most will notice. She'll be a contributor off the bench, if she gets enough minutes.

Mitchell had 6 pts on 3-7 FG with 3 assist, 2 rebs, and 1 stl. Sessions also had 6 pts on 3-4 FG with 3 assists and 2 steals. Tina Roy had 2 pts and 3 rebs but led the team with 5 assists.

As for the other Fantastic Frosh, Duckett had 4 pts all on FTs to go with 4 rebs, 2 assists and a steal, while White had 3 pts all on FTs and 4 rebs.

Pam Parsons sure had us rolling back then ... but then, she got caught carpet-munching and it all came to a screeching halt.

Carpet-munch all you want ... just not one of your 17 yr old players.

I'm really looking forward to this basketball season - both the men's and women's teams.

Incidentally I understand that Parsons is still munching that carpet: they still live together and co-own a sports massage business out of GA. Special discounts given to soccer moms....

Hoping he will too, if he has an even better year than last year he should definitely be in the running.

It's officially gameday.
