He was, he's the small guy who can shoot lights out from 3. Think he got 15 against us.

The article I read on that stupid four letter network said they were suspended for "unspecified conduct detrimental to the team".

Shaving points? Would definitely lead to our poor shooting percentage. I realize the chance of this is super low and Sheppard's normal contribution isnt a ton anyway, but still. We shot wayyyy better tonight without them.

Another term for "violation of team rules" imo.

Probably got caught smoking weed

Frank on postgame radio with Andy D commenting on an apparent UGa fan with some "class" words and gestures as coach sat down to talk during the interview...

"they have some nice fans here, don't they?"

That's the closest we'll ever get Frank Martin to a "bless his heart" comment.

Point shaving?

lol .... no.

They were both somewhere where they were not supposed to be when they were supposed to be rehabbing and in the training room.

Then they both lied about it - and Fighting Frank was not happy about that.

I've been given two different terms - not sure which one is true.

One is that they are only suspended until the end of the regular season. When we go to the SEC tourney, and if we were to somehow make the NIT, which we probably will not, they can play.

The other claims he was told they might be gone for good. I also think I heard the announcer say something to that effect tonight - but who knows - I don't see it myself but who knows. If that's true then something escalated from about 4PM this afternoon to 8PM tonight.

Minutes
Johnson 39
Notice 38
Chat 32
Thornwell 31
Carrera 22
Kacinas 21
Steele 17

McKie made the trip but did not play. getting Stroman back for any kind of minutes will be big. he could be out awhile after his medical procedure. these guys can expect heavy minutes the rest of the way.

Kacinas's stat line in 21 minutes really stood out. Johnson quietly had his best game maybe in a Gamecock uniform. Notice was nails. Kacinas made crucial plays in the last 5 minutes of the game. all 7 of those guys played their tails off to get that win.

Thornwell does so many things that doesn't show up in the box score. foul trouble & fatigue between he, Notice and Johnson will largely determine how many more wins this team can get.

You're right. St Roman needs to get back soon but who knows.

This the has showed guts all year long ... except for the KY game up there last week.

Gosh I hate autocorrect ... "St Roman" was supposed to be "Stroman."

Anyways, the girls looked good tonight, on the road, in a place that has typically be tough to get a win.

18 turnovers was not good. We'll need to keep that around 10 to beat Tennessee because they will capitalize.

I hope we sell the place out Monday night. Huge game. Massive game.

I will be totally shocked if we don't sell out, for these reasons:

1) the game is easily the top conference game of the year, with the regular season title on the line. UT doesn't have any more tough games for them after this one, while USC still plays @ UK and hosts a solid Miss St. But those teams have multiple conference losses and won't challenge for the title even if they beat USC, and if USC beats UT then a loss to one of them (if it happens) still has the Gamecocks in position for a share of the title with UT, or the tie-breaking edge on UT in H2H play (don't know how the SEC does that for record ties) for lone ownership. And Tennessee is still a standard in the SEC for wcbb, and Coach Staley only has 1 win against them at USC, so it's always going to be a statement game for her and us regardless of each team's standing in the SEC. So bottom line, this is a very critical game this season.

2) The game may also play a role for #1 seeding for the NCAAT. There's still tough games to play for USC with the other gms to play, while UT already has some losses on their resume and were not as solid a #1-seed to begin with as USC is. There's still some tough games to play in the SECT ahead for both teams. IMO even losing to UT would still keep USC in the final top 4 discussion for a #1, especially if they go on and beat the remainder of their schedule, but teams like Baylor and Notre Dame are making solid cases for themselves, and with UConn already locked in (who do they lose to the rest of the way?) and UT added to the discussion, that's 5 teams right there for 4 seeds. USC doesn't want to be the odd team out..

3) It's a ESPN2 televised game, which IMO has more cache with the local fanbase than the SECN+ for getting your "hi Mom's" in.

4) Tennessee carries it's fanbase with them: they regularly have a huge contingency of fans that travel to away games, similar to how UK's men's team does. Not to mention it's just as important a game for them as it for us. And USC is bringing it's own fans to home games this season in UT fashion. And the fact that this game will be on Monday shouldn't deter our fans in any way whatsoever: last Monday we hosted struggling Vanderbilt, and put 15K+ fannies in the seats for them. The additional 3K needed for an official sellout should be taken care of by the Lady Vols themselves.

I'm hoping it's a sell-out. I agree, I think it will be.

Would be neat as heck to see 18k in there Monday night ... or more maybe. Break the record.

SC WBB #1 in the SEC, defeated #6 vols for sole possession of 1st place in the SEC, with a 14-0 conference record.

It wasn't full though. It was kind of hard to see into the upper level from where I was sitting but what I did see were a bunch of empty seats in the upper deck last night.

I'm thinking we probably had somewhere around 12-13k in attendance. Not near as many UT fans as I thought there would be.

I sure hope we start shooting better from beyond the arch, and defending better from beyond the arch, or we're going to be gone by the Sweet 16 again this year.

Good shooting teams just make life very difficult on us.

Our offense has been complete arse all year. Defense has been really solid, we've rebounded well, but all offense is hot garbage. Hopefully Dozier and Silva can change that next year.
