We will be taking our two children to the GA Aquarium this weekend and are looking for a safe place to stay and one that is maybe within walking distace. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

There are a ton of perfectly safe hotels all around that area within walking distance. ATL is a conference town after all.

Thanks guys!I am more concerned with the safety of my family than anything else... It has been years since I have been in Atlanta and I am not familiar with that area. Thanks again!

Embassy Suites @ Centenniel Park...has a Ruths Chris and I believe a Legal Seafood on the backside. Omni Hotels also right down the road.
The whole area has changed quite a bit from 10 years ago and even from the Olympics. Lots of LE...GWCC Police,Turner Security,APD and GSP all blanket the area.

I stay at the Glenn a lot. It has a nice rooftop bar and is safe for ATL. It is a Marriott property, so they have to keep a certain level of standards. It also has onsite parking.

You'l be fine and hit the aquarium when it first opens so you can see events without people all in the way.
Just don't wear any bug gear in the area as this draws crime.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I am unfamiliar with the area and would rather go by the word of those in the know rather than hotel sites.

I work a block away from the aquarium. The entire area is safe, much like most of the city. It's been a much different place for 15 years now.

When was the last time you've been to the Centennial Park/Luckie Marietta section of Atlanta?

Exactly. Downtown is now a pretty safe place unless you venture south of Turner Field or west of the GA Dome.

West of ga dome is hard core.
The bluffs.
Cops dont even go in there. They will sit on the outskirts waiting for a white person to drive out, heroin bust.
But they dont go in unless its a coronor escort. They dont even bother with murder investigations cuz aint nobody saw or heard nothing.

I was going to recommend them walking down Marietta street and checking out the President Wilson exhibit in the state bar building, then they could visit MickeyD's by the bus stop and people watch.

Jesus, I have taken plenty of wrong turns leaving the GA Dome area, and was most definitely in the 'hood, but amazingly enough I made it out alive. SMH.

Its a legit lawless area west of the dome. All the gangsters have sophisticated lookout system 247365 so its pointless for cops to even patrol. So they dont bother.
