Just read that Mullen says this will be his best team. My question is what does that translate to? What's considered a success for Miss St fans? Could they be a dark horse in the West?

They've got the best QB in the west. All the new QBs in the west could completely lay an egg.

State can definitely beat Auburn, not saying they will though. I don't think they will be Alabama. If LSU was @ State, I would be nervous. State will beat Ole Miss and Arkansas. I have a feeling A&M gives them trouble.

I'm saying it. State will surprise some people this year.

Would you consider 8 wins a success?

Most of us consider it to be the baseline for this year. It would be okay, but I think 9 wins would be considered a successful season.

Ole Miss returns almost everyone including our QB. The game is in Oxford. Our defense is supposed to be as good as it has ever been. The home team usually wins.

Interesting to know people think we have no chance against Mississippi State at home

State may get to 6 or 7 wins but only because of their incredibly weak non-conference schedule. Cupcake walk to a bowl game if they can reel off 2 SEC wins.

Wrong school.

Right state.

We return more than you do and add some that were out against you. Your offense couldn't score a touchdown against our D and our D will be lots better this year. Plus you won't be facing our 3rd string QB.

He'd have to go 9-3 or better for it to translate to our best team -- and he'd have to have a signature win in those 9.

He makes it through this year without one -- he's never going to get one.

A push. 8 wins is the base expectation this year. Less would be disappointing...

8 wins would be a disappointment unless Dak gets hurt. Even then we should win 8.

I am cautiously optimistic, and think we have a legit shot to win every game we play in this year. I'm not saying we'll go undefeated obviously, but we will be in every game at the end.
