South Carolina is about to suffer an unprecedented academic casualty: 8 of their 21 commits (38%) will not make it in.

Will SC maintain their academic integrity and deal with the losses? or will they roll the dice and do whatever it takes to get the players qualified? This reminds me of the situation at North Carolina with academic misconduct. Will Spurrier get fired by SC amid NCAA investigation?

I don't get it. If they won't qualify and don't come to USC, how does that equal cheating?

I know you're trolling but let's actually look at this-- if USCe was North Carolina, they would have gotten them in and then kept them eligible.

what he is trolling or implying is that If any of them get in it is due to USC cheating to get them in....

I don't really get what OP is saying but I would like to know what SCAR fans are hearing about these 8 players' chances of qualifying

SC >>> NCAA Clearinghouse.

We run this s**t. unless they don't all qualify, and in that case we don't run that s**t, but we'll run this other s**t right over there.

@KegsnEggs: Eek. RT @KevinOnCFB: More than one-third of Gamecocks' 2014 recruiting class may not qualify #collegefootball LINK

In a conversation earlier this week, assistant coach Steve Spurrier Jr. conceded to Josh Kendall of The State that eight of the Gamecocks 2014 signees have yet to meet the academic qualifications to enroll in the school. Not only that, but three of the eight — defensive ends Dante Sawyer, Kalan Ritchie and Jhaustin Thomas — have either already announced they are headed to the JUCO ranks (the first two) or have whiffed on signing with the Gamecocks twice (Thomas signed with USC out of high school and, after failing to qualify initially, JUCO).

Sawyer has already stated that he plans to sign with the Gamecocks again in 2015.

The paper writes that “[c]ornerbacks Wesley Green, Chris Lammons and Darin Smalls, fullback Joe Blue and defensive tackle Dexter Wideman still are trying to meet qualifying standards in time to join the Gamecocks in August.”

Wideman is the highest ranked of the remaining five, rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com.

“We have a plan either way with him,” Spurrier Jr. said of the defensive lineman. “There are three or four that kind of fit into that group.”

How did this happen?

South Carolina has refused to allow student athletes into their school even when qualified per NCAA before.

Coach Spurrier has thrown a fit over this before.

If they can play ball USC better let em in.

The Ol Ball coach will retire on y'all arse.

U been in the SEC long enough to know how to grade change. Get with the program. Your players are all gonna pump gas anyway.

Didn't Butch Jones snag a recruit that didn't qualify for the Gamecocks last year?

Good thing you guys don't have the scholarships to backlog this year or else Butch might not be able to help himself and get flagged by the NCAA for trying to take our non-qualifiers again

But on a serious note, I'm not worried about academic misconduct occurring. I just hope at least 4 of those 8 qualify. Not getting Lammons & Green will indeed suck.

3 of them are definitely out and are already enrolled in Jr College. Green, Lammons, and Blue should get in. Wideman probably wont. I'm not sure about Smalls. As far as our needs to help with depth at CB position, Green, Lammons, and Smalls are the ones we definitely need to get in, and at least 2 of those 3 should. I realy only expect 4 of those 8 to not get in.
