Hate to hear he got hurt, sounds pretty bad. I was assuming he was a RS candidate anyway... Get well soon big guy...

Georgia won’t have freshman offensive lineman Jake Edwards available this season.

The 6-foot-4, 271-pound Heard County product will undergo knee surgery and redshirt, a source told Dawgs247. Edwards is believed to have torn both an ACL and LCL during agility drills.

Georgia had seven other players undergo ACL surgeries since the summer of 2013. The school did not confirm Edwards’ injury Wednesday.

Edwards was a three-star rated recruit. The Bulldogs signed four offensive line prospects, including Isaiah Wynn from St. Petersburg, Fla., Dyshon Sims from Lowndes High in Valdosta and Kendall Baker from Marist in Atlanta.

Edwards was likely to redshirt this season anyway, but had an outside chance to get involved at the guard position. He was listed as a three-star prospect coming out of Heard County High School.

The medical redshirt means that should Edwards have to miss another season in the future because of injury he would be able to apply for a sixth season of eligibility.
