I used to make the same comments. Twitter does suck when it is used for meaningless diatribes and babble, but it is one of the best sources for information out there, you just need to use discretion when deciding who to follow. For a sports fan, its absolutely amazing.

Are you too dumb to figure out how to use it and interpret a tweet? Because the only reason I've ever heard anyone who hates twitter use.

Facebook is much worse. It's a narcissism enabler and studies have shown that it's negatively impacting people's ability to communicate with each other, among other things.

I don't understand why people hate Facebook and Twitter because of the people that post on there. If you don't like the people your friends with or follow then don't friend them or follow them.

You know, it took me two years to figure out what Twitter was good for. At the time, it just seemed like people were tweeting what they had for lunch today (see SECR!)
However, at least the way I use it, it comes down to a highly personalized mini news feed. shite hits there unfiltered from sources you more or less trust. or at least hold with a known amount of credibility (from none to a lot.)
