I don't read it much but I do read on here how people look down on it. What's the deal? Didn't CNN sign them up in some capacity?

Because of their poor grammar

Because it's fricking terrible.
I can write for BR, that's how awful it is.

Slide shows and a lot of their "objective" content is written by fans.

Well that's not exactly a point in their favor.

Because in the beginning anyone with a keyboard could write an article there.

Because you have the ability to write on it, therefore, it is no different than starting a stupid thread.

They used to have a crapload of misinformed journalists. Once CNN joined up with them, their writing has improved significantly. Still pretty biased IMO though.

Yes. CNN gets thier sports form SI who rolled BR into them.
It used to be anyone could write a story for them but it is a good source now. I have the ipad app and read it regularly.

This, so much, even as bad as the quality of some of the articles.

because Larry posts a lot of nonsense on there

My (worthless) opinion: Like most publications, BR puts out some great stuff, and they post some crap.
But "Bleacher Report sucks" has become one of those deals where if it's repeated enough, it's believed.
Makes people feel like part of the crowd to regurgitate the talking point.

But seriously it's a combination of things:
1. Their content is shite. Because:
a. They'll let any fool become a contributor/writer. No experience or education needed. They're often biased, self important teenagers.
b. They don't pay their contributors
c. They constantly pressure contributors to create new content essentially stacking shite on more shite. We end up with 30 slideshows on the best stadium in CFB each year.
d. Their contributors are not compelled to back anything up with research. They don't conduct interviews or dig into record books. Almost everything on BR is opinion. It's essentially a large blog, not a sports news site.
2. Their site setup is shitty. It's designed mostly to drive hits/page views and ad revenue. They do this by:
a. Creating 50 page slideshows out of content that could easily fit in one page.
b. Adopting the most controversial and least reasonable approach/opinion/prediction on things often without any real meaningful reasoning behind it.

Poor grammer, articles lacking any substance, inaccurate information, poorly sourced, poorly researched, ect. It's like a sports blog from a 24 hour news channel, minus the legitimacy.

because people still treat it now based on how it used to be. as others have said, since being picked up by CNN and getting real writers, their content is fine. the main thing i can't stand about bleacher report is every article has a slideshow, very annoying

It's not as bad as it used to be, if we're being honest.
It used to be absolutely awful. It had shitty reporting, shitty writing, shitty opinions, and a shitty design. Now it's only half as shitty, but the fact that everything's a goddamn slideshow over there is still really obnoxious.

It's still awful. Kills would be a top contributor to that site.
Hell, I'd actually read it then.

I still don't read it on a regular basis. I have caught myself following a link or two from my facebook feed.
