I stumbled on this while looking up some numbers for the thread about projecting QB stat leaders in the SEC for 2014:

Thread I just talked about

Total stats last year:
68-133, 51%, 1071 yards, 11 TD, 2 INT,
41 rushes, 229 yards, 1 TD

Stats against UT and UK (combined 7-17)

29-53, 55%, 366 yards, 8 TD
15 rushes, 138 yards

Against everyone else:

39-80, 49%, 705 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT
26 rushes, 91 yards, 1 TD

It'll be interesting to see what his stats are like in 2014 given that the schedule looks more challenging, and he's lost his top 3 WRs. He does, however, have another year of experience and a good OL. Make it hard to project his season IMO.

He was terrible against USC last year.

And that was the only defense he faced

But, but, but....he was better than Franklin. He should have started every game...but coach plays favorites....please don't bring in facts that crush our dreams

Who said that?

The kid was a RS freshman last year. Some of you are crazy. You dont think a RS Freshman can and will improve?

By all means carry on.

I think he will certainly improve, I just don't know if his improvement will make up for the loss of his receivers. I just have been looking at that 11 TD 2 INT stat all year thinking, gosh, great stats, and then saw that it was against two of the worst teams in the SEC that he compiled most of those stats.

Of course, USCe doesn't have any room to talk here - as Kentucky almost beat USCe and Tennessee did beat them.

So maybe the stats are more meaningful than we all think they are.

Preach. I've been suggesting all offseason that he'll be a slight disappointment this year. I don't expect him to be bad, but the OP of the other thread predicting him to be in the top 3 in the conference in passing yds and passing TDs is questionable. Who is he throwing the ball to? Sasser and Hunt? They aren't scaring anybody. His biggest threat this year will be his legs. Like you pointed out, fortunately for him, he has a solid OL returning.

Meh, USCe fans are a predictable lot.

I think our WR situation is a lot better than many here think. If there is one position where Mizzou really excels at in recruiting its at this position. That probably comes from a lack of familiarity of our program by some because we are still new.

Its the same as an argument made that our DL will suck made by a ditz USCe fan because he didn't know squat about our roster.

I totally understand the critiques and stuff.

But Florida does? You know who we didn't lose to? I'll accept two answers.

He only started four games. Here were his other two starts:

Florida: 18-36, 295 passing yards (8.2 ypa), 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD, and 1 INT. 2nd most passing yards Florida gave up all season. Most was 327 to Winston.

South Carolina: 10-25 for 249 yards (10 ypa), 1 TD, and 1 INT. He had a poor completion percentage against USC, but still made a bunch of big plays.

Against Georgia he went 3-3 for 23 yards, and we scored two TDs with him running the offense in the 4th quarter. Against Oklahoma State he was 2-4 for 32 yards and a TD, and he also had 73 rushing yards on 3 carries.

No, I don't know shite about your roster, which is why I asked the question.

Thompson made a bunch of good plays, but since he didn't get a TD because Mike Davis fumbled Missouri fans say he sucks.

Kinda funny.

I know Mizzou has had good WR's over the years, but do you really think the 2014 unit is going to be as good as that 2013 unit?

DGB was probably angling towards a first round draft pick, and both Washington and Lucas have NFL contracts now, if I'm not mistaken.

Even if Sasser and Hunt are pretty good, I doubt that the unit as a whole will be anything like last year.

Don't take that personally.

The yankees are a little sensitive. I'll give them another 5-10 years before they start to get some thick skin.

I'm just saying USCe can't talk trash because the stats were all against UK and UT. If USCe had had those stats against UT, maybe they wouldn't have lost.

Florida fans have no room to talk about ANYTHING from last year unless you're a UK, UT, or Arkansas fan.

In which case, you're probably numb to the pain anyways.
