While being as dominate as the SWC was from 1959-1989 on a national scale?

The only consistent SEC performer during this time was Bama while the SWC had Texas and Arkansas.

The SEC played an unbalanced schedule, while the SWC played a round robin in which they saw all but one team finish the season ranked in the AP poll and all but that same team win a share of the conference during this period. (TCU)

Is there any chance of the SEC seeing the inter-conference parity while still being as dominate on the national stage as the SWC was?

I'll take having so many consecutive national titles I have to look it up over 80-100% parity.

It's not like the SEC is all Bama. Since the BCS started, LSU, Bama, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn have all won titles. It's only a matter of time before a team like South Carolina, Texas A&M, or Georgia breaks through. It may never happen for Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Miss State, and Ole Miss, though.

SWC pretty much had 7-8 teams at a time, so this is a great comparison

Over a 40 year window, this really doesn't seem that impressive.

Arkansas
Texas
SMU
Baylor
TTU
Houston
aTm
Rice
TCU

Yeah, they had less teams than the SEC, one less for a majority of this time period.

The better SEC teams would never schedule each other, it was manipulating the system at its best, the SEC was the only conference doing this at that time.
