Do you think he ends up in Lexigton? He's meeting with one of our assistant coaches for the 2nd week in a row. I believe the gap is closing...

He ends up in Kentucky. Even if he loves the staff Kentucky is the best 1 and done school in the nation. It would be a pretty eye opening get if UGA landed him but doubt it happens.

There's no such thing as "the best one and done school". KCP was a top 10 recruit and came to UGA. If you're truly an elite recruit, it shouldn't matter what school you go to. If he wants to win a NC, then yeah UK would be the place. If all he cares about is "one and done" he could accomplish the same goal at UGA... Hell, it would be a shorter season as well. Easier IMO

I tend to not doubt Cal in recruiting unless he gives me a reason to do so.
But there are schools/coaches that can better prepare a kid for the NBA experience.

Its like Vince told Tubby when Tubby came in and told him UK had offered. "Good luck."
Brown is giving us a look because of Rosemond. Is that HUGE for our program? Yes. But I will believe we are seriously in it when he takes an OV. Hopefully when Turtle and Beasily are there.

Are you saying Kentucky does that? Evidence?

UGA's pitch, IMO, has two parts.
1) Fox has put a less-talented player in the lottery. Also had two other first round guys. That doesn't touch UK obviously, but it shows UGA is capable in that regard, especially when you consider the program's talent level over the past 5 or so years.
2) Emotions. He'd likely be the biggest basketball star at UGA since Nique. Do it big for the home team in front of your family and friends. Be the big star as opposed to just another one-and-done in the Calipari machine. Also, his relationship with Rosemond.

I think the hometown angle works considerably better for football. Not sure why. That said, he could be a hometown hero in Athens or a national name in Lexington (at least for the 5 weeks or so the country pays attention).

This is a really interesting recruitment. Definitely hard to ignore what Kentucky can offer but I know UGA is showing him a lot more love and attention. Showing him how KCP won SEC player of the year and how Fox used him in his system helps. I know he liked Fox and was willing to listen but once Coach Rosemand was hired that interest definitely amped up. Excited to see how this one ends.

There's been multiple players that have come out that have said dealing with the media, fanbase (for better or worse), and expectations has helped prepare them for the NBA. As well as working with Cal. Randle just recently talked about it. MKG and his Mom talked about how much the media around UK BB helped prepare him for NBA media from a speaking standpoint.
I'm not saying UK is exclusive in that. But it definitely offers something that other programs may not.

Look, if you could pick UK or UGA to attend for 1 year, while being a big star, not having to attend classes the 2nd semester, where would you honestly go?
Now saying that, I bet he still goes to UK because of the bball program, but could you imagine being a star in Athens and not attending class? You'd be the king of downtown Athens

Thats the problem. We dont need him to be that. We need him to not be hungover.

If he's good enough at UK he could be more than the King of Lexington.
And he may very well end up at UGA. I wouldn't blame him for wanting to be the hometown guy and instate school. But there's plenty in Lexington to draw him there too. I'm sure it won't be an easy decision to make either way.

If Lexington has any good BBQ joints, that could tip the scales. That's probably the only thing that Athens lacks.

Only worthwhile BBQ in Lexington is Red State or Sarah's, but you have to drive a bit out of the city proper for either. Definite negative mark. Now I'm worried.

Sorry, y'all gave it a shot. Best move on to someone else.

The BBQ Shack? We have had this discussion. You need to ride out there and try it. The butt hutt sucks. Fresh Air is decent. Harry's well I wont say
