Rating by 247 and/or 247 Composite-

In the last 3 signing classes, UGA has only signed 6 offensive lineman with a 4 star rating or better on at least one of the measuring sticks listed above.

So is 6 good or bad? I guess if you are UCF or Georgia Tech, that might be a number to get excited about.

But how does that stack up against our competitors in the SEC?

South Carolina- 4
Auburn- 5
Florida- 4
Tennessee- 1

Potential West Contender for SECCG:

LSU- 6
Alabama- 10
Ole Miss- 3

After looking at this, is it fair to blame shitty recruiting for poor line play?

Or should we question something else?

Hunter Long was a 3 star
He was the 18th rated player in Tennessee
18/3 = 6

His number is 66

The signs are all around us.

UGA's Guards and Center play has been decent enough. The problem has always been that there is no true LT since Sturdivant.

Gates had one embarrasing play vs clem last year but other than that was pretty solid.

ONe who is athletic enough where the go to defense move against a top of the line rushing DE/OLB isn't diving at their feet.

I understand your confusion on what makes a true LT since, as an UGA fan, you keep watching guards play the position.

Yeah it's been a minute since we've had a quality lt. The interior line has been pretty solid with some ups and downs here and there.

It also doesn't help when the touted OTs we do get come in and aren't very good.

Auburn
Arkansas
South Carolina
Clemson
Florida
Tennessee
Missouri
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Georgia Tech
Troy
Charleston Southern

The total number of letters in our 2014 schedule is 109.

2014 divided by 109 is 18.447.

18.447 divided by the magic number 3 is 6.15

The first two integers in the decimal 1 and 5 add up to 6.

6 times 34 is 204.

2 + 0 + 4 = 6.

A guy with the physical ability to play LT at an elite level at least in college, preferably still at the NFL level too.

Theus is the closest thing we've had to that since Sturdivant. Sims and Baker are both promising, Baker moreso as I think Sims is probably best used as a RT.

I just want to make one slight change to your op to illustrate how I view our team and the SEC...

Those are the benchmarks. We shouldn't give a shite what any of the other teams are doing, those are the ones (along with AU and UF periodically) that should be in the cross-hairs when we consider where our football program stands.

I'm typing this without a face right now. It melted off into a puddle on to the floor.

Let me go get a mop and have a few drinks to calm my nerves, and I'll try to share what I just figured out...........

Holy shite, man! Holy frickin shite...........
