Asked why he would leave Alabama for Michigan, Nussmeier said there were "a lot of reasons."

"I don't think you ever move just to move," he said. "There were a lot of reasons. In this profession, you only get so many opportunities to do things that maybe you wouldn't normally do. This was an opportunity here, obviously, having known Michigan football, what it was, an opportunity to come here and be a part of what I believe is something special. It just seemed like the right opportunity and the right challenge at this point in time."

I wonder if one of the reasons was because him and Saban were clashing on the play calling. It seemed out of sorts at times last season and in 2012.

You guys wanted to keep Kiffin in Tennessee. That's part of the reason you guys were so upset when he left for a better program.

Shorty panicked after the Auburn and OU games. Ran him off. Hired that prick Lane in that continued state of panic. End of story Larry.

Now we've got another fandom butthurt at us over getting their coaches. Between Saban kicking LSU's arse regularly and Kiffin's offense running up and down the field at will, on the Vols, there's gonna be a ton of hate up in here!

Nussmeier left Alabama because he was shown the door.

McElwain was such a better offensive play caller than Nussmeier.

Didnt seem like there was much competition for Kiffin. I mean like zero.
Really, You guys hired Kiffin? Im still pinching myself, so not like 'classy' Bama.
Are u guys as cool w/ this hire as u were being held hostage by the coach who has yet to take any responsibility for the last 2 fiascos. This decline is going to be so comical for a few of us.

Honestly i am really surprised by the Kiffin hire. Both are very ego driven coaches and I just don't see it ending well. If Kiffin can keep his shite in check for a year and do well, he would do well to jump on the first offer to move on.

I actually think Saban would do better with young, bright guys that he can mold into his brand of offense. I thought McElroy would have been a good risk for Saban to take. He knows the offense that Saban wants to run and is a smart guy.

If you have seen the way Kiffin calls plays it is not difficult to understand why he is at UA. Run heavy with fullbacks and tight ends lead blocking to isolate one on one match ups for his receivers and tight ends.

Saban blessed him out some time toward the end of 3rd quarter of the 2012 SECCG for throwing the ball too much with his mediocre QB instead of playing to his strengths. Couldn't let him go after that season bc they won the title. But anything short of an SEC title in 2013 and he was gone. Saban was probably relieved he lost to AU to get that fraud out of town. JMO, I know of absolutely no facts to back that up.

Kiffin has a reputation for developing QB'S. As far as being a head coach..........

He played Tennessee evenly using the running game and playing physical that Saban saw something in him that he later revisited resulting in this. Now Lane has all this talent that he can play with.

U realize that Bama has a few guys on staff that come "cheap". Some have salary coming from other schools when they got fired. So Bama is getting a bang for their buck on the experience side when they have former HC's on the staff as well as former DC's on the staff as a position coach. So I am referring to Kevin Steele and Lane.

Nussmeier would tend to stray away from the Run. 4th Qtr 2012 Texas A&M, 1st Half 2012 SECCG vs Georgia, 2013 Sugar Bowl vs Oklahoma.

Bama's offensive philosophy will always be centered around the run game. Nussmeier's play calling did not fit that mold as consistently as Saban expected. It just didnt work out for him long term in Tuscaloosa. I wish him the best of luck. Im glad he won a NC with us.
