These are just a handful of names that are current or former CFB players. Somebody please explain to me why a mother would name their kids some of these crazy names. (and this is not team specific, all have names like this.)
Senquez
Rantavious
Martavious
Marquavious
Shaqavious
LeQuantum
Knowshon
Benjarvus
Foshwhitt
Delashaun
Syd'Quan
Sa'Coby

So are you saying or endorsing that black mothers name their kids stupid names?

Why did you post the NBA All-Star team roster?

My wife used to work for the state of georgia and did food stamps. She would come home with some brilliant girl names too. My favoriate was andromeda uniqua. And that was a white kid!

Because apparently black mothers love roman names for some reason unbeknownst to me. You're not creative because your child's name is Tyrannomus LaWilliam Jones.
You're just a retarded jackass who's son will most likely be making millions of dollars 22 years later.

My days in the Cobb County school system exposed me to too many of those outlandish names

The original post asks the question of WHY people get named these names. Thats a legit question going toward culture more than anything that i would really like an answer on despite any snarky shite.

It's no worse than white girls naming their kids after the kids on teen mom or text Kardashians

I would say it's in an effort to be unique and separate their culture from ours. Think about it, these odd names didn't start popping up until after the Civil Rights movement. They just want to be different I guess and that sentiment is strong in urban settings where most football players come from.

No, even my name might be stupid to foreigners. I'm saying African American mothers name their kids in a unique way that sounds absolutely ridiculous in the thoughts of a lot of Americans.

Jasonda is a stupid name to non foreigners

If a resume containing these kind of names shows up on a desk, does this not lend itself to racial profiling?

It's a poor attempt in the fact that legit African names are NOTHING like the ones we see today. The legit ones are small in number across the board from what I've observed especially in areas like ghettos.
African names are more among the likes of Shaka, Bomani, Chika, etc.
All the "African American" names I ever hear sound of Romana and Greek descent.

I think DirtyDawg has a good point here, which is an effort to be unique, but more importantly culturally. To a certain extent, i think that culture part is what we white folks need to get a better understanding of to really push civil rights and equality forward.
Rather than skin color, which to my mind is irrelevant, if the race dialog in America could focus on culture, I think we could push this forward.

Wonderful Terriffic. That's mot ghetto, that's just stupid.
Also for the record I think that everyone in my immediate family has normal names,. And I want my kids to have a job, so I won't be "creative" with their names as well.

That's the thing with our country though. We will always have those holding us back due to only caring about such a fickle thing as skin color, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
I lived the first part of my life in the rougher areas of Cobb county and I can definitely say that our two cultures are pretty different. In order to push this forward we need more people to try and understand the other groups culture. Black people need to under stand ours and white people need to understand theirs.
