Agreed. I hate it too. There's a bunch of those patriotic country songs that annoy me. I prefer a good "Star Spangled Banner" done by a jazz musician or a good marching band/drum corps, or a latin version of "Grand Ol' Flag".
As far as patriotic songs go, I like Neil Diamond's "They're Coming to America", Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Houses", James Brown's "Livin' In America", and pretty much any rendition of "America the Beautiful".
