Is Mark Ingram a bust if he never makes it past 2nd string?

Right now, Mark is projected to play RB for the Saints as he develops.

If he progresses into a 2nd String back instead of making the jump to First String, is this still a successful pick?

Unless Ingram reels off a good season this year, and by good I mean 700+ yards (depending on the amount of carries), 4.0+ YPC, and 8+ TDs, the bust label will officially be applied.

No considering he got 1st round money and the Saints traded up for him. And IDC that he played at Bama.

Cue the Bama fans saying it's a product of the Saints offense, and that he'd be a pre bowler elsewhere.

I will say as a Saints fan I don't get why we waste picks on RBs. We get better ones from the undrafted trash heep

No matter what he does from here on dude is a major bust. Not worth the 1st round pick the Saints used on him.

Can't wait until he's off the Saints roster

Pretty much. But he had a good end of last year. Just not 1st round material. Therefore, a wasted pick and a bust.

He was getting better at the end of the season, in general RBs aren't worth much money or draft wise. The reason is if your oline is good enough you can pretty much hand the ball to any slap dick who runs a decent 40 and can makes cuts and do OK.

This isn't entirely true. Just watch the videos of Chris Johnson and why he fell off. He has no vision. They were showing some breakdowns about how often he makes terrible decisions running the football costing himself potential yards on nearly every running play. He still has elite speed.

Was the best runner on his team last year. Probably will be this year.
