Hurts depth, but would have never seen the field.

Could have been a guard in a few years maybe.

Someone on TA just said he hung out with bad people in HS.

You know, even w/ all the attrition the class has experienced, using the class calculator on 247, the remaining members would still rank as the #16 class in the nation, just ahead of OU and UTx.

I guess he fell behind Kimo Tipoti or one or more of the true freshmen on the depth chart?

Taking a hard look:

Seniors: Harrison (starter), Gramling (starter?)
Juniors: Cheek, Eluemunor(?)
Sophomores: Stuckey, Tipoti
Freshmen: Davis

Add in the linemen we've been recruiting and he might never have seen the field.

How does it hurt depth?

The current 2-deep is:

LG - Harrison/Eluemunor/Tipoti
RG - Gramling/Cheek/Stuckey

Here's the final word regarding the depth chart.

Just because you have to redshirt doesn't mean you can't succeed.

Just because you don't play much your RS Freshman year doesn't mean you can't succeed.

Just because you don't play much your RS Sophomore year doesn't mean you can't succeed.

Just because you don't start your RS Junior year doesn't mean you can't succeed.

Case in point: GARRETT GRAMLING

I remember being really pumped when he committed and signed. I thought he would have challenged for a spot inside next year but maybe not if he's transferring

Didn't TMC say that because of his short arms that he never projected anywhere but guard?

how does it NOT hurt depth?

just b/c he wasn't high on a two deep right NOW doesn't mean he couldn't have risen due to either his own play improving or injuries ahead of him.

Do you think Coach Sumlin would have granted his release to BAYLOR of all places if he thought he could see the field?

Right now, he's behind the following players AT GUARD:

2 entrenched senior starters
2 4 star juniors
2 3 star sophomores
1 3 star freshmen

at his position. Not to mention the 3 4-star linemen just committed, with at least one of those playing guard.

For him to see the field this year, at least 6 players would have to be injured.

Coach Anderson wants guards who can slide outside to play tackle if need be. By accounts, he doesn't fit that mold.

Gramling has played tackle
Harrison has played tackle
Eluemunor was a tackle in JUCO
Cheek has played tackle
Tipoti has played tackle
Stuckey was a tackle in JUCO
Davis played tackle in H.S.

Let's go a bit further and look at some guards over the past few seasons:

Patrick Lewis was playing at guard while Kevin Matthews was at center.

Cedric Ogbuehi played guard while Joeckel and Matthews were at tackle.

Germain Ifedi played guard while Ogbuehi and Matthews were at tackle.

Every single starting guard under B.J. Anderson at A&M has played at or started at tackle

Yes, I do. We don't block transfers if kids want to leave and I don't know why anyone would. Also we don't play Baylor so I doubt he gives a shite

I never implied that. I implied that if Coach Sumlin thought Wilson would see the field, he would have told him as much.

Not happening, but we'll take Ed Paris when he starts feeling homesick.

I would hope so even though it would make this website a horrible place to be.

so what?

that means squat and has nothing to do with the fact that we just lost a big body that might be needed depth wise in case of injury or in case he makes a leap over summer.

just b/c they think right NOW he might not get the PT he wants doesn't mean it might not be there in the future.

claiming this doesn't hurt depth b/c of where he is on the depth chart right now is incredibly short sighted and overly optimistic.
