Good stuff. I kinda want to share it on my Facebook feed since all the Christian whackos* were celebrating on my feed last night.
*Not all Christians are whackos, but if you bought the bait that this case was about religious freedom, then you might be one. This was about politics and profits. Up until they filed the suit, Hobby Lobby covered all of the emergency contraceptives in question except for IUD's.

There are some stupid people in this country.
To me it's not about religious freedom but rather about the Govt not forcing a company to provide certain benefits to employees. If you pay the bill then you should have every right to choose what coverage the employee gets. Those women aren't being kept from getting their own plan with contraceptive coverage

I think that's what bothers me about the whole thing. They cloak it in "religious freedom" for PR purposes and the masses buy in. But most of their products come from china, where abortion is state enforced. And their moral compass doesn't seem to have a problem supporting that country's policies and economy with their purchases.
It's about money and profit. That's it. The religious part is PR, IMO. And a lot of people bought it.
Now the ruling yesterday was very narrow. I just don't like the precedent of establishing corporations as people with rights, I think it opens a can of worms. Of course, if employers just provided a subsidy to their employees so they could purchase whatever coverage they wanted, it wouldn't be an issue.

That misses quite a few things. Hobby Lobby has some pretty good religious creds. They're not open on Sunday. Nothing really beneficial to their bottom line there.

I realize they're a Christian company, no doubt there. But their moral compass isn't quite as pure as they'd like us to believe. Or maybe I'm just cynical, which is a definite possibility.

Do I need to click my heels? What I stated is my opinion. It could be true, it could not be true. I get that Hobby Lobby's founders are very religious. Good for them. If they were so worried about drugs they considered abortion though, I think they would have been a little more diligent in making sure their health plans didn't already cover these pills before raising a stink.
