I'm not. I still think we make a run for it!

Worried? No. Do I think we'll make the playoffs? Who knows. Lots of baseball left to play. Gotta get and stay healthy. Pitching staff alone this year off the top of my head:

Wacha
Garcia x2
Motte
Kelly
Lyons
Gast
Siegrist

May have been more.

Need the bats to find some consistency. I like Bourjos' defense, but .200 doesn't cut it. He has to be a late inning defensive replacement. Jay, like him or not, is hitting. Craig is slowly but surely getting up there, at .255. With as atrocious as he started, he's had to be pretty steady to get just that far.

I doubt we see Wacha again for awhile.

Sounds like his injury will be a problem for years to come.

Sobering stat of the day:

As bad as Bourjos has been, BBRef still has him with a higher WAR than Craig (0.5 to 0.1), primarily due to Bourjos' contributions with the glove.

Here's the kicker: they both trail Wainwright, who's put up a 0.6 WAR in just 40 AB's.

Such is the state of the 2013 Cardinals...

Truthfully, I don't follow all the latest stats they use. Couldn't even tell you the significance of WAR or how it's calculated. What I can tell you is Bourjos isn't a hitter. No pop. Craig at least has pop in his bat.

What I would do...sit Jay and Bourjos. Put Taveras in center. We need the pop and we need regular at bats. Leave Craig in right. Bring Bourjos in late for defense. Don't care if Taveras slides to right or Craig stays there late in a game.

As much as I despise Holliday, I'd rather see Craig ride the pine or get sent down.

At least Holliday gets on base at a decent clip. Tavares isn't a CF by all accounts, so I don't have a problem with leaving Jay in CF and playing Tavares in RF everyday.

Tavares should hit 3rd, but I suspect that MM won't put him there until he has no choice. If Tavares comes up and hits, putting Carp and Holliday in front of him should spark some offense.

Our problem is we have sally hitters all over the place. I like Carpenter, but you can't have 4 HR's out of 3B. He has to go back to 2nd. Wong and Ellis have been killing us as it is. I think Wong was hitting like .100 in June, though maybe for good reason. Ellis has been a waste. More than the OF, I really want someone at 3B with some pop so we can move Carp back to 2B.

Lyons blows, I hope he never comes back up. I bet we trade for a big bat to play 3rd.

Some talk of Beltre.

The more I think about the OF, Mo is just gonna have to grow a set and trade Taveras or Craig or both or Adams and move one of them to 1B.

Some have said there are longoria rumors, but I think it would be more realistic to see something like beltre or headley.

I'm worried. Cards have wasted a lot of good pitching. Not hitting. I agree Tavares needs to play and bat 2nd or third. I heard Bernie say Tavares batted with the bases empty 30 of his 37 at bats with the cards. In the minors His average is much less with the bases empty than with runners on base. I've virtually given up on Peter B. Need the staff to get healthy.

Believe they have it in them to win the division.

Wish list:

Trade Craig yesterday (is he even tradable with his contract?)

Trade Miller

Go back in time and not abuse Wacha (Career outlook will never be the same)

Go back in time and don't sign Holliday

Get a legit co-ace to go with Waino

Start the entire Memphis outfield in StL

Fire Mo, let him pursue his dream job, floor manager at Nordstroms

Tell Wong to smoke weed 3 times a day for 6 months straight, continue as needed

Tell Mabry that this is an actual job and not just a fun thing to do while in retirement

Tell MM that he's a phony good guy Christian with zero personality and it looks like he's got hemorrhoids when he walks to the mound.

I'd say more than reasonable.
