I'll actually go with team that didn't win the National Title. 2011. They were loaded.

In my lifetime, its a tough one between the 2003 and 2011 football teams.

Edge to 2003 since they actually won it all.

1964 - AP/Coaches #1 - Alabama

Back when national champions were still named before the bowl games.

I'll get blasted for this, but I still think you guys deserved a split national title that year.

That is one of the last years that the AP held their final poll before bowls...this was one reason they were pressured to change the practice.

ETA...sorry...should have read...thought it was a response to the OP.

That 2011 team was ridiculous. If that team would have had a good OC and decent QB they would have been unstoppable.

Shame the season ended the way it did, but everyone knows that team was loaded at every position but 1.

I'd go with 2011 for y'all. 2003 was good, no doubt, but man was the SEC West bad that year.

Nah, if you don't win the championship game, you don't win the national title.

See LSU-USC 2003......oh wait

I think he was talking about LSU/Bama 2011.
While I think OSU was more deserving, we played Bama. We lost, they didn't. No split title. At least we did win the SEC that year.

I'm partial to our 1994 squad--but I was an undergrad then, so I have a soft spot for em.
Undefeated (with one tie).
They were a fun as hell team to watch.

They would be talked of in the same light as 95 Nebraska and 01 Miami.

Our strength of schedule that year was the most impressive aspect of that year too imo.

Talent wise for Ole Miss - 2008

Looking back, that team should have been in the National Championship picture. Snead, McCluster, Bolden, Oher, both Jerry's, Wallace, Hodge, Hardy, Tillman, Powe, Trahan, Palmer, Fein, Vaughn, Green, Lewis, and Sanford. Most of those still in the pro's/starting in the pro's.

Talent wise, I think the 2006 LSU team was better than both 2011 and 2003.

Yeah they were definitely more balanced on both sides of the ball in 06.

2011 and 03 the majority of the top talent was all on the defense. Especially in 2011

Was that Jamarcus's senior year where he threw the 4th down and 4 yard TD to tie the game up with like 5-10 seconds left?

That was a loaded team.

That was his junior year, but it was his last season. He had a ridiculous throw in the OM game, rolling to his left and he threw a perfect pass. 40 yards downfield, against his body.

He was first overall pick next year, plus we had two WRs go in the first round. LaRon Landry was a top 5 pick too
