Should UGA Claim 1946?

Not saying we should go crazy but in 1946 we were the only undefeated team left. Army had no losses but one tie.
We averaged a score of 35-9
Defense only allowed 100 total points all season
1946 might be a better claim then 1942

I really don't care. A title in 1946 isn't going to help us going forward.

To be fair, Army did have two major wins in '45 that were probably garnering it some extra cred.

Hell, go ahead and claim all 5. Other programs are doing it so why not? 10 years into the playoff format, college football will either be dead or to the point that nobody really acknowledges titles as being "real" before the playoff system. May as well cash in the chips now.

Of coarse, and I think Georgia should claim 2002 and 2007 as well.
You guys who don't care about this stuff, I just don't understand the purpose of you being a football fan. The whole purpose of being a fan is to enjoy and take pride in the history of your team.

I'f you could even get an official response from the university I would be shell shocked.
I can't speak for anyone officially but you're nuts if you think UGA (BOR) wants anything brought up from its history before integration was the accepted practice and that includes football.
Same thing when it comes to the old cheers and silver helmets/britches era and G, which you will never ever see a full tribute given.
Maybe it's just for the best.

I'm confused..why is it you think we don't wear silver helmets? Because the BOR doesn't want to bring up old stories pre-integration?
And we do have "tributes" with all the old cheers, it's called homecoming.

I have never been to a UGA homecoming game no reason from my end for that and young children didn't attend games during the time my father taught there.

At least you're honest. But to enlighten you...at homecoming games they have the geriatrics that were cheerleaders way back pre-war time in their throwback skirts/sweaters and whatnot lead the old timey cheers. One I remember distinctly, "Get the ball! Get the ball! Get the damn ball!"
